These are quartz clocks designed for a wired building system (think of an old school or office building that IBM or Simplex clocks in every room). This is a modern quartz-based replacement that can be synchronized by pulses delivered hourly (or daily) from a master clock. The clocks will run accurately without a master clock (I've done this), but to making setting and synchronizing them easy, you'll want to be able to duplicate the correction pulse (easy electronics project).
