No 970 Matchless Machinist's Screwdriver

Some time back I bought a Kennedy Machinist tool box and this small screwdriver along with a few tools were sitting in the bottom drawer.

It is clearly marked Bridgeport but I never got around to finding out more about the history until I found an old Bridgeport Catalog the No. 53 Dated 1953. If you scroll down to page #16 you will see the No. 970 Matchless Machinist's Screwdriver, with a list price of $10.60 per Dozen, Wish I had a Time Machine...

My neighbor is a retired chip maker, I'll have to ask him if he has anything like that laying around.

We could try to persuade the younger generations to purchase a few high quality items and store them safely for 50 years but they likely won't see the logic. Theoretically you probably could have leveraged your $10.60 investment over the last 60 years to a greater advantage. It's their rarity (because no one did salt any away) that gives them their ultimate value today though but yes, a dozen of those in new condition would be real nice.
