No manufacturer either, weird. I can only discern the following from it:

CRN9366 1234567890
SFW 57-2094
SCS A212 B FBX
TS 70000
MAX WP200# TEM 650
SH 1862 HD 1420
U69 JT 1957

I understand maybe half the markings such as the minimum shell thickness of 0.1862" and the minimum head thickness of 0.1420" as well as the max pressure and temp, but everything else is gibberish to me. Can anyone help? :headscrat

CRN9366 = Canadian Registration Number

SFW 57-2094 is likely a serial number

which means "1957" is likely the year of manufacture

A-212-C is the material

TS = tensile strength of the steel = 70,000 psi

U-69 is an ASME Ref.

Comments:

  • I wasn't around in 1957... I have however been designing ASME code vessels since 1982.
  • You might want to read this:
A-212 Pressure Vessel Steel - A Case Against Continued Use
  • How big is this tank and what are your plans for it?
  • It appears to have hemispherical heads, so you can say... "Yeah, It's a Hemi"

Yeah I totally forgot about the year haha. The rest makes total sense, thanks for the reply. It's a horizontal 80 gallon receiver that I am looking to get rid of for $40. Decent condition on the inside, no leaks. Just thought that it was weird not having a National Board certification or a U stamp since other tanks of that era do have them.

Looks like I should scrap it instead? It has lived indoors in a shop for the last 50 or so years.

I tend to be ultra conservative because I have seen first hand the carnage that can result from pressurized vessels rupturing that were used for air and or other such gases.

My experience with A-212-C material has not been a good one.... If it were mine I would no longer use it as a pressure vessel.
