Thomask honestly they come factory with a 15 foot line and I would stick to that . You can get a set of guages off of evilbay and a vacuum pump and do the whole install yourself that way if you leave it with the factory lines so you wont have to add refrigerant to it as it comes with a factory charge in it .

Today it was 30 degrees. That's cold for down South here.

When we moved into our house 2 years ago I told the wife the house is yours the garage is mine. The only thing from the house in the garage is the deep freezer. It has worked so far the only person besides me with stuff in the garage is my 2 year old daughter she wins all the time since she hangs out in the garage with daddy. The shed idea was the best thing I did got all the lawn stuff out and made a lot of space for me in the garage.

If you really need to make space I am in Jaxs and I will come any place you want to remove that vette from your driveway.

Just got back in the C6 Vet from a Chili party and then a trip for ice cream with the local Vet club.

I hope we don't have a big dinner. Ha haaa

FYI Several pics below posted just for fun. One from the Chili party today which was held "inside" a really nice climate controlled commercial garage that rents space for collector cars. What a GARAGE. The other pics taken "outside" are from cruise ins of fellow members cars, etc.

Also, just bought a 95 Firebird Formula... its a common car, but by option codes, its 1-of-1 and, until I got it, it was 1-owner. Have both those cars and the 2 daily drivers stuffed in my 3.5car garage... along with tools/compressor/lawn tractor/snowblower/stuff.

i wouldn't say i'm greatly organized, but I do have a sense of spatial relationships...
i have to back the Z into the garage corner, and then i pull in on a 30deg angle with the bird and park as close to the Z as I can... then i crawl out the passenger side. my garage is 37ft wide, and the 2 toy cars occupy 13ft of it.

GOOD NEWS

The weather in the South is above freezing and all tropical potted plants and palm trees have been moved out of the garage. You can actually, well almost, fit in a second car now.

It's getting close to the point to move everything out to paint ceiling and walls. Walls are white but they have never been painted, only hardcoat plaster. Any suggestions?

Indoor outdoor carpet has got to go. This IS a garage.

Good point there Rick. You can't go wrong with a bright white and it goes with those red cabinets. I also just found some checker flag tape for a border.

BTW: Was down in Orlando for NCRS Corvette winter show.
Great weather and lots of nice cars. Wife asked what I bought? I said a surf woody. I have always wanted one since I was a high school kid. Well the price was right and I hope you all think it will look good in the garage.

I have picked up well over $2000.00 in tools/boxes this month but I only have about $1000.00 invested ( all new to ) . Granted the other day she was out here complaining that her oven isnt baking right . I popped on Homie desperates site they had a glass top like she likes with the BIG window in the door in the right color onsale for $287.00 I showed her she said Ooooooooooooo. I said get me my debit card . I think you may need to add onto that garage now though .

MICKEY, Sorry but I left one out and that is to have a "sell pile".

If you want to sponsor a "Garage Sale" you might make a few bucks and clean stuff out at the same time. Just be sure you are ready cause folks start showing up early, real early, like the night before.

A way to control the early birds at yard sales is to place your ad with a nearby easy to find location as the target site. Make your ad say something like "go to X place at 8 am and follow signs". The next morning when you are ready, send someone to that location to post a sign with your address, then turn around and haul *** home with a convoy following them. I did this once, and my sale was over in a short while, because they were competing with each other and not just "thinking about buying" Just have a few helpers to control the frenzy.

Thomask the Woody looks great and it should almost allow you to fit 3 cars in the garage now ( counting the woody ) LOL. I picked up the Craftsman 14 drawer stack for $350.00 between Craftsman club prices and the 10% off sale a couple weeks ago . I also picked up the HF 5 drawer cart for $134.00 on the 25% off day and I grabbed the 4 drawer tool cart for $99.00 with a coupon although I resold it already LOL and just grabbed a non matching 13 drawer Craftsman stack for $150.00 in the clearance section . The top 8 drawer part is quiet glide in the " Rare Blue " LOL the bottom half is a Red Homeowners 5 drawer . I have also grabbed quite a bit of gearwrench stuff onsale and a PILE of Dewalt 18 V XRP stuff from Homie Desperate for less than 1/2 off . I need to update my garage thread with all the new boxes and stuff.

Progress Update:

Today put up some wood look blinds in bright white to replace some old yellowing plastic minis. They served well over the years. Nothing mechanical, but every little bit helps improve the place. WIFE HAPPY and front of house looks better with all matching now.

Hope to get the attic stuff all up there and in order, then the garage will get bigger I know.

Hey RickAirMedic, sounds like you got a great deal there on craftsman cabinets. A man can't own too many and they sure help in organizing hand tools into a central location.

4Star it was quite warm at my house a few weeks ago ( had a wee bit of a house fire ) . The good news is the insurance checks should start comming in this week and all will be put back in order and I may actualy finally get ( my garage clean ) LOL.


Thomask the blinds sound nice . I can tell you the plastic ones DONT LIKE HEAT of any kind I will have to get some pics of mine in my garage they are quite droopy and the fire was in the basement not the garage. The heat comming up the stairwell though was enough to melt the blinds on the other side of the garage from the stairwell.

Some time back I mentioned building a tool shed for yard stuff. Saw a nice litttle cedar garden shed at a local garden center on sale for over a thousand dollars.

Wife liked it and I said we could build that for less than half that price. I went back up there and took some measurements and got to work.

I had a great time building it to match our house with cedar siding and designer shingle roof. It is only 8x8 ft square but it sure got a lot of the yard stuff out of the garage.

We like it so much we may build a larger (12x12?) version for the backyard.

I agree with GDA and I use lots of $9 per sheet pegboard...it's amazing how many tons of stuff you can hang on properly hung sheets of that stuff with the right fasteners and as a sidebar it makes it much easy to find that special tool later. Just tossing stuff in cabinets can be a problem...hang it and arrange it. Your wife might appreciate your "well hung" garage and the guy in it if you take charge and just do it.

Just a FYI

When I stained the shed it looked so good that it made the house look bad.

Well the weather is much better in the south now so I started to restain the house. Yesterday and today I started on the west end and had just about worked my way to the garage end until we got rain.

Gosh, it hasn't rained for two weeks and it did today. Had to cover wet stain with tarps to keep rain off.

I picked up a tool cart or I should say a cart with a flat surface. I load up all my tools for a project on it and when I'm done the tools go back on the cart. I leave the cart laying in the middle of the garage so its an annoyance or I put the tools away after I'm done using them.

Its part of my new way of doing things. Otherwise I would have tools all over the place and I would end up finding shoes I bought 2years ago and accused the wife of throwing away. Hahahaha

My hole is just as bad, but some day I plan on having it just the way it needs to be. Well thats if I ever get back to emptying my tool cart.

I see you have started the organizational journey, too. You have done some good work out there.

Thanks for the tool cart suggestion. It is a great way for folks to get organized. I bought one for a remodel project so all the tools were in one place and mobile. It really saved time and effort. Easy clean up at end of the day also.

Sorry for the late response INDY 500. I have started a major project on the exterior.

Our two carts came from Sams if I remember correctly. They were less than 50.00 dollars each and have held up ok. I have seen some at HF that look almost identical and at a good price. They sure are handy and help you keep things in one place, near your work, and off the floor. You will be glad you have them and they really help staying organized.

I did have to repair one of the wheel holders it was overloaded outdoors one day and I pushed too hard on it when a wheel got stuck. My fault not the carts.

I was able to fix it with a hose clamp and a piece of wood to attach the wheel. Guess I was out of duct tape that day. LOL

A new toy in the garage.

Our youngest and I started taking her apart. We organized small parts into sections, labeled each group, and placed them in plastic bags with black sharpie marker. Everything major removed for body shop/paint work. She needs tires and a good scrubbing down so she can get some nice new dirt on her.

Took wife out for a ride before taking her apart.

She said, "This things rides like a JEEP".

I said, "Yes dear"

I have to say organizing your garage and putting a 85 Jeep back together is like saying Jumbo Shrimp. It is a oxymoron.

Got the jeep back from body and paint work. Tune Up, New Tires, Tow Bar installed to pull behind RV.

NOW garage is clutterd with wood shop tools as now doing interior remodel.

GOOD NEWS, wife said "I can do what ever I want when her interior is done". Went straight to my desk and wrote that down on my calendar. FYI: Just to able to remind her when that day gets here. I do see light at the end of the tunnel. Is it a train coming at me???

BTW, A friend just brought me three sets of metal shelves. Used but not abused. I plan on putting them up in the attic storage area and get some boxes labeled for organizing. I did empty out four large boxes of stuff from retirement.

When the interior of the house is done standby for a planned GARAGE makeover. I have some ideas!!!

It's a 1992 17 Montauk SE Boston Whaler with 100 HP Johnson GT. She will fly for a center console.

Kids love "getting air", though not advised per owners manual.

It "was" kept in our garage years ago but had to park her sideways to get door to close. My previous 15 cc Whaler with 50 HP Mercury fit straight back in. Door closed with no problem.

NOTE TO ALL: Need to build garages at least 24 ft deep.

Love the Whaler! This is the same model that I want to buy--have already promissed the boys. Did you have the swivel tongue on your trailer? My garage is 22 feet deep but I figure it will fit with the new swivel trailer.

Good to hear from you Rick. Just about finished trim out of new wood floor in time for relatives here for Thanksgiving dinner. Glad your house is coming along so maybe you can get back on the garage project.

FYI picture is of our stereo cabinet before I rebuilt it. Will get a picture posted of new cabinet when the paint dries, it sure looks better. Hey this gives me an idea for a cabinet for the garage to house TV and stereo and my ice box for drinks, maybe a little microwave, for warm drinks in cold weather.

I wish I did have the swivel tongue trailer. I think it just might fit, it would be close. Boats are a great way to spend time with the young ones.

My 15 foot Whaler center console always looked good as new, even the teak was in like new condition when she was sold. Keeping them oput of the weather makes a BIG difference.

Wish I still had her for my grandkids.

Oldest came over the other day and he helped move those metal shelves into the attic.

More floor space opened up now and we also moved several large containers from garage to attic storage. I may get two vehicles into that garage yet.

BTW I broke down and bought one of those label makers, I plan on labeling boxes in attic and making it easy to locate stuff.
