When I login on my web browser, I Can see private messages, but no notifications, like if someone quotes my post.

Is this normal? Is there a setting I need to change?

Have you subscribed to the topics ? You should get notifications that way.
You also need to set how you want to be notified.

No. So I can only get notifications for a *thread* I subscribe to? I've never seen that on any forum. As in, you won't see my quote of you unless you subscribe to this very thread?

Also, can you point out where to set the settings you mentioned.

Go to thread tools and work on it from that. You will see subscribe to and then set how you require. Other wise in any other topic if some one quotes you unless you have a subscription to that topic you will not get any notification.

You did explain it clearly, but I guess I'm still confused.

Let's say you quote someone on a thread that is a year old, and you have an important question for member X.

Unless that member is *subscribed* to that thread, they get *no* notification that I quoted them, and thus member X will never see my question unless they stumble upon that year old thread and saw it.

How does that make any sense?

If I had to guess, everyone participates in hundreds of more threads than they'll subscribe to, unless everyone here on GJ subscribes to every thread they participate in.
