I know there's a lot of it lately, and usually deserved. But, I still have good experiences with the Sears folks, too.

I went down for one of my "every-10-years-or-so-return-trips"; 2 flex T-handle/breaker bars, 44201 & 44202, a 44811 ratchet, a std screwdriver and 3/8" x 1/4"dr deep skt. I was concerned going in they wouldn't have exact replacements and might have to decide if I'd take a newer, possibly non-USA version or just keep my old ones (the flex handles just had ball/detent issues). I have owned both since new, over 30yrs.

New ones were exactly like the old, for all 5 items, and all USA. No issues in giving the replacements, which has always been the case for me at Sears, I know others aren't always so lucky.

BTW, the socket had just worn all the laser etching away and the ratchet was still functional, but you could tell a few teeth were hurtin'.

I've had my trying experiences with Sears, but usually with online orders and subsequent customer service dealings. Has always worked out for me in the end, but sometimes took some focused effort on my part.

I'm still a satisfied Craftsman (hand tools) customer, and my fingers are crossed they keep me that way.

Yep i have never had a poor experience trying to warranty a craftsman tool. If the **** hits the fan I typically do not hesitate to abuse a craftsman tool for this reason.

I have good luck with Sears/Craftsman warranty exchanges. I even had a double-open-end wrench that had broken on one end, and since the didn't have that exact wrench any more, they gave me two combination wrenches, one for each size on the original wrench.
I try to buy something from the tool dept. every time I exchange something, just to keep them in business.

The one thing I love about sears is their warranty. Just drive there and get something new with no haggling

I have had a few problems with them but nothing to speak of usually just an un trained employee that doesnt know. Just spoke too a guy in the sears tool dept. last weekend that was very knowledgable about the whole line. Even helped me out on a few things I was getting. Still try to buy most of my hand tools from sears very satisfied also.

Impressive idea, think I will do the same from here on out, nice way to support them when they are taking care of a warranty issue.

Never had a problem with the actual warranty of the tools, but a few less than stellar associates and the customer service I received. Will say that when I complained loudly to corporate about the attitude and lack of helpfulness I got the last time I was there, I went in last week with some broken screwdrivers and a split socket, and was dreading the exchange as I got the same clerk. Was pleasantly surprised , she was helpful and pleasnt to deal with, lacked real knowledge of the tools, but made up for it with effort to make me a happy customer. at least at my local Sears the seem to be trying

Always warranty all my hand tools, I have 70% all craftsman sockets, and a big set of Cman pro wrenches. Not to many things I will buy from them but there are some deals and conveniences that just cant be beat.

I had a good experience with sears today. My mom had purchased a house a few years back and I found a craftsman raised profile ratchet with snapon extension in the mud behind it. I came home and cleaned it up but it was froze up and it took a dead blow to get the extension and ratchet separated. Just set the ratchet aside....Fast forward a few years, I was in sears and mentioned something to the store owner about warrantying it, he told me to bring it in and he would be happy to throw a rebuild kit in it. Went in today, they were out of 3/8" rebuild kits so they gave me a brand new raised profile. Bonus was it was still a USA made.

I buy form sears, have not hand any issues with the tools I brought form them. Most of the items I buy are US made. And if I look around, I still fine US made ratchet and gear wrenches from Craftsmen. Saw the new slim profile the other day, made in the USA and the next cabinet over Made in the USA metric and standard craftsmen gear wrenches. And the sockets are all US made.

Sears sells allot of big ticket items, home appliances and tools are their cash cows.

I've noticed a steady influx in the tool department of Ace Hardware around here, they used to have only a few craftsman items, seasonal spring cleaning type things, noe the westlake ace hardware down the road from me is pretty much selling off all of their ace tool at 50% or mroe to make room for the new aisles of craftsman tools. The sad thing is, it's better laid out, and a larger selection i think than my local sears, and it will be certainly when they add another section for tool boxes and power tools.

ive always had good luck warranting tools. I have only had maybe one or two problems. I once tired to warranty my 1/2" premium ratchet (teeth were only cut into half the ratchet gear) amazing QC! I took it in and mr. snotty mc snoterson who is always there gave me the usual. He looks at me down his nose like he knows so much more than I do. but I usually always leave with what I want. He is just a pain that makes sears look bad. but everyone else has been fine

Thanks
Sean Scott
