Nobar torque wrenches

Hi all.

I have bin looking for a new 1/2 inch torque wrench to replace my 10 year old Biltema wrench. It is mostly for home use 10 times a year. But I would like to go up in quality compared to the Biltema. I have a long time love story with the stahlwille torque wrenches we use at work. But I just cannot justify the price( especially not to my wife) I need a wrench in the typical 40-200 nm range.

So am considering buying a würth wrench. We use many würth tools at work( hand, not electric) and will say they are mostly high quality. A quick round of ask google, enlightened me that würth torque wrenches are made by a company called Nobar. Apparently a big company in the torque tools business, but I have never heard of it.

So. What are the opinion on Garage Journal on Nobar torque wrenches. Are they any good? Or should I look at something else?

Thanks all.

Søren

Norbar are a British firm, so if you're in the U.S. you might not have run across them!

Having said that, they are the original manufacturers of a lot of 'own brand' torque wrenches, so you might have encountered one without realising it!

Are they any good? Sure, work just fine!

Thanks. I live in Denmark, but have still never heard of them.

We use them at work for product assembly (1/4 drive) and never had a problem with them. Based on that I bought 1/2 drive for use in the garage at home and am pleased with them.

As mentioned above they do OEM for quite a few manufacturers.

In the US, Apex (formerly Danaher), Precision and CDI are the makers behind a lot of other kabels, specially Apex

Nothing wrong with Norbar, I have 3 of them I think at the moment. They are quality and work and are so common in Europe your never going to have issues finding somewhere to get it calibrated if you need to. There are better torque wrenches out there but they cost more, the Norbar is only slightly dearer than a decent brand Taiwan one if you buy carefully.
