They have two sizes:

GB20, 400 amp, $59.99

GB50, 1500 amp, $119.99

It looks like the GB20 is $79.95 on Amazon and Walmart

It looks like the GB50 is $149.95 on Amazon and Walmart

I have had the GB40, 1000 amp for over a year. The battery has held its charge well, and it has successfully jumped both 5.4 Ford annd 5.7 Chevy engines, and I like it a lot. It is much less bulky to carry around than my old jumper pack.

Let us know if you see a GB150 at a substantial discount. That is the only one that would tempt me since I already have a JNC 318 (same as Clore ES580) that is comparable to the lower end Noco for less money. Would also be interested in the G15000 charger/starter (I drive my cars and don’t need the smaller mini charger/maintainer).

I've stood on the sidelines while these lithium packs matured. I have a JNC660, but it's heavy and I worry about it not being strapped down in my car. I finally got a GB70 this year for my car, and now I'll be adding the GB50 for my wife's.

The woot price isn't bad, but not screaming good either, but good 'nuf for me. Might see a better deal around BF, but I'll take what I can get. The GB50 has 50% more capacity than the previous GB40 tested in that review. I'm surprised they reviewed the older 40 since the 50 has been out for 6 months or more? Anyway, I wasn't comfortable with the output of the 40 after reading reviews, which is the only reason I bumped up to the 70. The 50 looks to be perfect for any car and light truck.

GB40 isn't obsolete and the reviewer was testing units within the ~$100 price range.

Before you buy it watch this video on the best Jump Starter:

The video is a comparison test between Autowit, lithium ion jump starters, Harbor Freight Viking, Noco Boost GB 40, Sanrock, Topvision, DB Power, Audew, and a sealed lead acid jump starter made by Duracell.

Noco Boost GB 40 did not perform well.

Audew brand performed the best.

That is the test discussed in the link at post #3.

I have a noco. I would never have bought it had that review existed when I purchased it.

Once an item starts getting good reviews on Amazon it seems to move up exponentially. Something to do with Amazon algorithms. If you search for another brand of lithium jump starters by name on Amazon, they will still show the NOCO first. This continues to promote NOCO and they've gotten this great reputation, even though it appears underserved.

The GB40 is good if you're driving a 4cyl or have a battery just on the edge of dead. The problem is the price is too high for its specs but that's to be expected when a brand becomes that popular. NOCO is a sponsored seller on Amazon so they actually pay money to be featured. Ebay started doing it too which is very annoying as in either instance it makes the search/filter options biased.

This is all off topic though. The GB50 in the OP should be right on par with the best in the review test.

So, are you saying bc NOCO is overpriced the comparison test wasn't comparing apples to apples? (Assuming price wasn't a factor).

Noco Boost GB 40 did not perform well regardless of price in the Project Farm youtube comparison video. Cheaper competitors beat it out.

Right, most of the units had specs similar to the GB50 and then the NOCO tested, the HF, and that capacitor thing were all quite substandard in specs.

The bummer is that the NOCO cables and clamps are soooo nice compared to cheap imports. I realize that doesn't help if the product doesn't actually work, but still most of these clamp assys are garbage

I'm surprised the NOCO is getting such a bad rap. I've been very pleased with mine in the year that I've had it.

Funny, I just used it this morning as my neighbor's truck was dead as I was leaving for work this morning. He asked if I could give him a jump start as he had his jumper cables already connected. I walked over with my NOCO GB70, disconnected his jumper cables, connected my jump box and his Ford V10 fired right up without hesitation.

Funny, I put my GB50 on the charger this morning, and I was admiring the clamps. I thought they would be a cheap version of the clamps on the GB70, but they are well made. Nice stiff spring, jaws line up well without a lot of side to side play and the teeth are cleanly shaped. It took me by surprise, I was expecting a lower quality clamp. It doesn't matter on a product that will be seldom used and has a lifespan of ~5-7 years, but it is reassuring that someone took the time to build a decent product, particularly one with a somewhat sizable lithium battery packed within. That point is something that concerns me with some of the other options out there.

The negative commentary is due to the video highlighted in this thread, which tested the GB40. This video was released in the last 1-2 weeks and suddenly the interwebs is an expert in boost packs. The model they tested is slightly undersized imho, but it may have been defective as well (we will never know). Regardless, the deal mentioned in this thread was for the larger capacity GB50. To some people it doesn't matter, it's the same brand. Their choice.

*edit*
One of the problems however, is Noco has sponsored (given away) a ton of product to gain publicity. The video above was not done with free product which lends more credibility than many of the existing videos on Noco. In a way, their marketing dept has shot themselves in the foot because this one video contradicts what every other youtuber has depicted. I think they make a good product, but this might also explain why people are trashing the brand.
