Noco or Antigravity Jump Packs

SO the reviews for both are excellent.

The vehicle I am buying it for is my sons 2014 Jeep Cherokee.
Both brands have very good overall reviews, but also a few very poor reviews for a few thousand respondents.

I am looking to GJ for their personal expertise. I own a new Antigravity Jump pack and so far so good. Wondering is Noco is as good, better or worse.

Thanks for any person experience on these 2 brands.

If you own one please let me know:
1. The Model
2. How long you have owned it
3. Primary use (charge personal devices or jump cars)
4. How long it holds a charge before you need to recharge it without use and with use
5. How often you have used it, and have you ever failed to start a vehicle it was rated for?

I have 2 of the Noco Gb40s and am happy with them. I keep one in each car for emergencies. I've used them to jump one car for a woman who's battery died. It turned over like it was a brand new battery. I've used it a couple of times to jump my atv and generator, and it worked great every time.
I also use it to trouble shoot my trailer light occasionally by setting it to emergency power mode and just grabbing wires with the alligator clamps. And when the power goes out I have used it to recharge my phone at times when I don't need to start the generator.
I've had them for probably 2 years now, and only ever bother to charge them after using them. I've never seen them lose any significant power while off.

I have NOCO GB40 2 years now. Used weekly and works well. Holds charge for numerous starts. Great for my use on tractors and 4 and 6 cylinder engines but they recommend the GB70 for diesels and V8a'

Do you plug it in and have to wait while the power charges up the battery or do you just plug and crank?

Have any of these things been related to those battery fires? With this amount of juice i've always been hesitant.

I've had the NOCO GB40 since they went on sale for Black Friday. Used it a couple times to jump start my garage queen 10.5:1 compression 347 stroker Mustang. No need to let it charge up your battery. Just plug in the NOCO and crank away. I've started it three times with a dead battery and still had 85% life in the jumper. Haven't used it for anything else, but I assume it will do just fine. I now keep it in my truck and transfer it to my Police car when I work to jump the "respectful" customers who killed their batteries after being stopped.

I have the GB40 as well. It has not let me down yet. I have jump started my "winter beater" car several times. Turns out the battery had gone south on the car and would not hold a charge. The Noco jumped it every time. Just hooked it, turned it on, and cranked the car. I would say 4-5 times before i recharged it. Very impressed with it.

I had a bad battery in truck, could not boost so removed battery and started and ran truck using only the NOCO GB40 to get truck home.. Not sure how long I could have run this, just wanted to get truck home.

I have a Noco GB20. I bought it to carry on my motorcycles, but I didn't read the specs very closely -- the fraggin' thing is much bigger than I expected. Totally my bad, but not very practical for carrying on motorcycle trips.

That said, it's a VERY high quality unit (the clamps are pure art), and it's been used to start cars several times with zero issues. It's specified to start engines up to 4 liters, and I carry it in my van.


I then bought an Antigravity micro-start to carry on longer motorcycle trips or to rallies. It's an older model, but it's basically the smallest one they sell. I think the Micro-Start Sport is the current model.

Again, it's a VERY high quality unit and works beautifully. And it's a good bit smaller than the Noco.

As one of the first and best lithium jump starter brands, Antigravity has a HUGE problem with counterfeit products. Do NOT buy one on Amazon or fleaBay; they are mostly counterfeit. Buy directly from Antigravity (I got mine from their booth at a motorcycle show) via their website.

I also bought my Noco directly from their website. If you're not in a hurry, sign up for their email newsletter and wait for a discount to pop up on the product you want.

The fire issue concerns me quite a bit. I’m buying this for my sons car and that’s the last issue I want to have. I avoided these for a good while. I purchased the Antigravity for my use in my car. Funny how we protect wife and kids Ymca higher level.

Hoping for a response on fire concerns from someone on the know.

So far in the past 6 months of owning my XP-10 I have to agree. Only used once to jump a car recently but it held a charge since July and after the jump still shows full.

The JNC 311 and 318 have been out for a while and have good reviews. Not sure they blow up or expand and crack the cases like the noco and antigravity but maybe they all have some failure rate.

I have a Noco GB70 that I carry in my Jeep now that I no longer have a dual battery setup. I've only had to use mine once so far on a vehicle that we came across last fall that was stranded and it worked perfectly and didn't even drop the state of charge. After seeing how well it worked I bought one for my son to carry in his Jeep for his birthday last year although I don't think he has had to use his yet.

3. Primary use (charge personal devices or jump cars) - mainly jumping quad, tractor, motorcycle, lawnmower and occasionaly cars. have used to charge phone and to run as a radio battery that uses USB.
4. How long it holds a charge before you need to recharge it without use and with use - hard to say, jumping (or trying to jump my dead duramax) I drained it after probably 30 crank/start cycles, usually I can go all summer without charging it just using it on mowers and other stuff.
5. How often you have used it, and have you ever failed to start a vehicle it was rated for? - use a few times a month, only failed to start my duramax diesel with 2 dead batteries and junk fuel pump. would crank but not much until I replaced the batteries. everything else I have used it on it would start, including a quad with a battery with no acid in4 of the cells...

A jump starter has to supply a lot of current for a short time. You could never charge it that fast. Not even close. You plug it in charge it at a much slower rate and then you are ready to discharge it fast, again. It is not like some electric razor that you can use while charging.

You connect the jumper and give it a few minutes if the dead battery does not crank right away. I usually try right away and it usually works but I have had to give it a couple of minutes upon occasion.

Purchased the XP-10 2 1/2 years ago. Used very seldom - don't remember the last time it was charged. Last week one of our cars that doesn't get driven very much wouldn't start. (6 Cylinder) Pulled out the XP-10, showed a full charge and car fired right up

I also like the fact that it comes with a bunch of connectors for phones, etc so that it can also be used in case of emergency to charge your phone

If you don't want to spend the money, I think I would buy this one from Costco. If it doesn't work out, just return it for a full refund

My antigravity came with an adapter to allow for wall charging. And that's how I charged it when I first got it.

The charging input is a micro-USB charging port. My GB40 came with a micro-to-USB cable, an cigarette-to-USB adapter/cigarette plug. As it comes, it will charge from anything with cigarette lighter or USB port.

To charge from 120 VAC, you need a 120 VAC-to-USB receptacle or most cell phone chargers with a micro-USB plug.

Like FTG-05 mentioned the Noco came with a USB cord and 12-volt accessory plug. I had an old phone charger that I used to charge mine via 120-VAC.

NOCO charges via 12V cigarette or Micro-USB. The 12V cigarette is higher amperage and faster. Micro-USB is limited to ~2A with a wall adapter, so the charge takes a bit. NOCO offers a 12V wall adapter separately for faster charging.

My previous lithium jump pack died. It was $40 off Amazon and I was impressed with its performance. However I let it fully drain and I couldn't recover it. I picked up a NOCO GB70 this past holiday and I've used the NOCO to start a Harley twin and a 3.2L straight-6 either without a battery installed.

it has a USB cord, same as my android phone. can charge from lighter with the adapter or use a plug adapter for a wall outlet, it doesn't come with one but most people have half a dozen floating around...

The bigger NOCO packs (GB70 and GB150) can use a 12V plug to charge in addition to the micro USB. Micro USB will take a lot longer because it's lower power.

We have three Anti Gravity packs. They have a unique charger, so if NOCO uses standard chargers I’d get that. The AG has a very small round plug for charging.

We have two NOCO chargers I’m very impressed with.
