Very sorry to hear this.
As I said to another member earlier today, papaw and I had a few exchanges - I even bought a few things from him on Ebay - really a heck of a nice guy.
He will be greatly missed.

Dang, lost a legend. I too bought a few things off him in the last two years. Will raise a glass later this evening.

This is sad news. So sorry to hear this, my condolences to his family and friends. He seemed like an interesting fellow and posted many interesting things over the years. A major loss to the tool community for sure. I’ve always enjoyed his site.

Oh wow I just heard about this. I’m part of his forum that’s so disappointing I didn’t even know he was sick. I joined his forum back in December.

I can still access the main site having the old, static content, but the Tool Talk forum displays only a blank page for me. I have a number of shortcuts saved for various threads, which also bring up only blank pages. So the issue is not the site itself, but the Tool Talk forum.

There is an article on Papaws site that I really want to see.

Craftsman Teardrop Ratchet (1956-1993) Type Study by Jim C.

I see an attachment but am unable to view it.
I have tried to register without any success - resending activation codes.
If anyone has any info it would be appreciated.

Noel’s son Patrick is now in charge of the site. I visit from time to time and it seems to be working okay for me. If you continue to have a problem joining, let me know and I will try to contact him for you. You might try sending a PM direct to Jim C via the Garage Journal’s messaging system.

Thanks for your interest in the Type Study. I just went to the Tool Talk website and the Type Study thread seems to be there. As much as I hate to say it, I only have screen shots of the entire document. My computer skills are really lacking and I’m not really sure how else to save the thing for future reference if the Tool Talk website disappeared forever. Not that it would be the end of the world, but it did take some time and resources to compile, and someone seems to be looking at it. Anyway, it’s there if you want to check it out.

I‘m not sure what attachment he’s looking for. It’s just text that I wrote and then pictures at the end of each Type write up. There are no special attachments.

I don't see the pictures, which is gonna make the text sorta useless. If I create a word document, can you reattach if I send it?

I'm not a member, so I can't see the pix. I've grabbed all of your text, and contemplating some of the other comments, but seeing the pix would help decide which pix and comments to grab.

I am not having any difficulty at all with that URL posted above in post #25.
There are no photo images in the post - only text - if you are not signed in.
If you sign in, no problem - photos are there and available for viewing.

So sign up already! ;)

Website still messed up.
Been on there over ten years. Now doesn't recognize me.
Try a 'forget your password' link and the activation they say has been sent does not show up in my email.
Try to re-register and dis-allowed because my email is already in use.
Caught in a endless loop.
What a mess.

I see a paper clip near the header. I am viewing as a guest. I was wondering if I could see the ratchets in the article if I could actually register as a member.
I am very interested in this study. It would be easier to follow along with a visual reference.

Thanks
