We I've been planning on coating my garage floor for some time and have finally placed an order with Legacy today. So far I've already filled the saw cuts with their Xtream Set 100 epoxy and will be grinding the concrete this Saturday. I do have a question that id like some feedback on. So far I've filled the saw cuts up to the garage door transition as I originally plan on stopping their as to not have a full flake floor go outside the door.
My questions is do you thing it will look silly when the garage door is open and you have a couple of saw cuts that start at the driveway and then only go about 12" and stop at the filled saw cuts at the full flake floor. I really don't want to have the flake outside the garage as the color is not very neutral and will defiantly standout with the garage shut.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Here's a picture of Legacy's Xtream Set 100 during grinding.e9d6a11237984d1c6c06fa1d06065b20.jpg

I do have a couple of areas that due to the concrete not being level between the saw cuts the epoxy was sitting on the surface of the floor after grinding. I hope Scott can chime in but I'm wondering if I should remove these excess with a hand grinder and just let the HD epoxy fill this area below the surface. 90cdbf02591aa39c7793f378565f94da.jpgf1ff4bfc9b33a06f5af66433699a36d2.jpg

The Xtream set is what I used, if you look at the pictures the edges of the epoxy are flaking off the concrete where it’s very thin after grinding. My question is do I grind this area down to fresh concrete and reapply the Xtream. I’m guessing this is just an area that the epoxy didn’t soak and bond too.

I'm sure Scott would be the one to ask (tried PMing having issues with the site) I will be coating the garage floor this weekend and just want to make sure I understood the directions for the material. I have the whole weekend so I have the time to space out the coatings just want to make sure my plan is correct.
Saturday
2pm – Nohr Primer
8pm – HD Epoxy
Sunday
8am – 1st Nohr Clear
12pm – 2nd Nohr Clear
4pm – 3rd Nohr Clear with antislip

I just want to make sure I optimize the time in between coatings, if anyone has a better suggesting please let me know.

Just wanted to post a quick pick, finished the floor coating this morning, last coat of clear with the anti-slip just went down.
Overall the Legacy kit went down very easy, although I did have four helpers when i did the epoxy portion.2688ed61d9bf99b85b9a7960b6249c64.jpg

did you scrape the floor and vacuum/leaf blow before putting down the clear coat? im finding that after doing mine there were a couple less-flaked areas that are noticeable.

Areas missing flake could mean a few things...

A. the coating you used did not have enough thickness to it or applied too thin
B. you waited too long to get the flakes into it
C. you didn't toss enough flake

We use a receiver coat that is really designed for this task in our kits.
Not every coating is a good receiver.

Yes, a did scrape and vacuumed up the flake, I had a couple areas where I didn't apply enough flake and you could see the epoxy. What I did is after applying the first coat of clear I sprinkled down more flake. After the second and third coat of clear it looks perfect.

Now, while I did say I scrape the flake after and vacuumed I didn't scrape it as well as I think I should have in my opinion. Even after three coats of clear there is still a lot of texture in the floor. Nothing that I would be worried about dirt getting trapped, but if you were looking for a glass like surface I would spend some addition time leveling out the flake before clearing. I'm still overall very happy with how it turned out.

A good way to help level the flakes is to buff them.
Our own crew does this vs. scraping. On a DIY project it's probably overkill but I wanted to mention it.

Also... full flake is a textured floor. It's unrealistic to have it "glass like" without applying special flake melters or crazy amounts of clear coat.

How is your floor holding up?

Really leaning on going this way in my new house after seeing my buddies full flake floor at his new garage, I think it convinced me to go full flake on mine vs. partial flake.
