Yesterday I bought a 30 gal 110v upright Kobalt compressor to replace my old Campbell huasfield oiless. Anyway I got it home put it together and turned it on. First thought I have is "man this thing is quite". After about a minute it started sounding like my old oiless one. it has a knock that I'm not sure it should have. Its not as loud as my old oiless but louder than i think it should be.Everything else is good. It has oil to the center of red dot. It builds pressure to 155psi.

Is it normal to sound like that?

One thing you can do is put some pressure on the guards and different areas. Often you can cut a few decibels off by tightening down things or jamming some rubber here or there.

Yeah it might be the belt tension, that's what it was on mine. The motor was rocking back and forth.

Did you break it in with no pressure building for 15 minutes as required?
