Looking to buy a palm nailer, and wondering if there's anything NOT made in China. Might have to buy something used and older, but was plugging the studio audience here to see if there is anything out there that is USA or Japanese made.

Of course they do. But wouldn't the American made units work better?

Guess I'm going to have to hit Smithsonian then. I'll find one.

Actually, I believe that items made in Sweden, Germany and Japan are best designed and built generally...........Generally!

As I prefer to support my local economy by using local stores rather than the corporate giants like walmart, that funnel the money out of my area, I too prefer to do business with companies that employ people in my country rather than farming out labor to another country because they want to pay nothing wages, then bring their **** here to sell to our ignorant, and people who could give a **** about preserving our economy. I'm very principled and stubborn to a fault.

Anyhow, I found a used palm nailer locally that works and is not Chinese. Hurray!

Thank you toolfool! I don't mean to piss people off, but when you buy from companies that do not support your home turf, you're ******* in your drinking water. It's great to know that there are others out there that are mindful of this.

All of the above professions and more make money when made in USA products are bought. The OP is not talking about just enhancing a job, they're also talking about keeping money local. However much money they paid for the palm nailer (they mentioned they bought it locally) will be given to his neighbor. The neighbor might go to a mom and pop store and support them. It might pay the kid down the street to mow their lawn. It might be used to get chips at Speedway, which signs the paychecks for Zooter, around the block. The OP is trying to keep their money in their city, in their state and in their country.

It was pointed out that these people are employed when things are made in America and another thing to consider is the pollution of transporting raw material to these countries and then transporting finished products or parts back here to this country.

Personally, I bear the pride of owning products made in my homeland.

Domestically made products still need to be moved to reach the hands of the end user, so really, everyone above EXCEPT for the sailor, ship unloader & dock worker benefit from domestically sourced products.
Now you can also add to the above list, the primary jobs associated with the manufacture of domestically sourced products.

KEEP AMERICA WORKING! BUY AMERICAN! (YES, I ALSO DRINK DOMESTIC BEER)

And the sailor, dock worker, etc will still benefit because buying domestic doesn't eliminate world trade. We can actually ship products made here to other countries, instead of empty containers. And then there's all the service industries that survive when people have decent paying jobs. Everything from bankers, lawyers, accountants, doctors, to construction workers, etc.

It's so awesome to see a few folks out there that get it and still strive to buy American made products. I was at Home Depot looking for sanding belts for my 4X24 inch American made Porter Cable belt sander and saw that they offered "Diablo" brand sanding belts made in Sweden. I loaded up on $200 worth of different grit because they were the same price as Chinese made belts by American companies!!!!! WTF? Talk about greed. This is why I refuse to support companies that ship jobs and money to China so they can make even more profit than they would otherwise.

So what's the difference if it was made in Sweden instead of China?

I guess the boat ride is shorter, but I don't think Sweden is one of the 50 states.

Swedes don't work for pennies a day with no benefits so that a wealthy American corporation can make record profits. China does! Once again, I refuse to support corporations that as a general rule, take jobs out of America and send them to China so they can make larger profits than they would otherwise, then bring their **** here to sell to us. Keep taking jobs out of here and eventually people won't be able to eat. It's already happening.

Look, if you want to buy Chinese and spit in the face of America, then go ahead. Everyone else does. ME, I'll look out for the well paid worker here in America, followed by Japan, Sweden, Germany and so on, countries that generally take care of their labor force.

China has millions and millions of rural peasants who flock to the cities to work in the factories that provide the low cost products we import. They also have a rapidly expanding middle class, not unlike what we had a century and a half ago. Chinese consumers already buy more new cars than we do.

Eventually, India will replace China as the low cost labor source, and after that, it'll be Africa.

I don't hear anybody complaining about the quality of their Chinese produced iPhones.

You're basically making a race based argument against Chinese products.

How is "I don't want to support corporations that maximize profit by sending their business to an area (China) that uses cheap labor and materials, essentially taking money out of the US" a race based argument?

Your iPhone argument is completely irrelevant, as the majority of modern cellphones are produced in China.

Thank you Sir! I appreciate it. Some people forget all about Ghandi. This is very similar. There will always be the pro business aspect of people out there who could care less about the people producing the products but as a person who works for a living, I like to support the people who support me! For the record, I have many Chinese friends so the racism angle is pure ********. ABC news has a "Made In America" segment to bring awareness to everyday products being produced here in America for about the same price as the Chinese made equivelents. I'm always on the lookout for things that I need in my everyday life, that are made by Americans, and I feel that this is a valid concern and goal.

And the home of one of the best pop groups ever.......... ABBA!

Woah! We need a mod in here to shut this thread down before it gets ugly!
Statements like yours can cause quite a few feathers to be ruffled. At my last job, my immediate supervisor was an ABBA fan, and he took a lot of **** for it. So, I have to say, "Good to see you on the board here, Gary!"

I can't help with American made, but Hitachi will probably have some Japanese units out there and I'm sure you can locate some Taiwanese nailers as well.

I was looking at the Hitachi's and I've used them before. I own a couple Hitachi framing guns and have been very pleased with them!

Computer and clothes all bought second hand, so none of my money going to corps that don't support our country. No TV. I have a Marantz stereo...... The amp and pre amp are American made (seriously) and the tuner is made in Japan. Two of my Toyota trucks are made in Japan and the other Toyota truck is made in America. My silverware is Stylecraft made in Japan........my boots are Redwings, made in USA. Look, I know it bothers you guys that I love America, and attempt to support my country while others like you are content to sell out our country, your mother and your dog for the sake of a profit margin. There's more to life than money folks. All I wanted to know was where, if at all, I could find a tool I need, that is made here in my homeland, or by another country that at least takes care of their people. I'm at least trying to support our country, not your bottom line. So rather than taking shots at me, could you at leasdt let me know where to find a non Chinese made palm nailer? Don't care about your opinions about why you're defending American corporate manufacture in china. Thank you! Palm nailer made in America, Sweden, Japan Germany........ Anybody know?

I'd prefer American made, but wouldn't hesitate to buy something from Germany, Sweden or Japan. I'm looking at older units on Ebay and other sites trying to get something before the migration to China / India. I'll find one. Today I bought some bearings for my 1930s Montgomery Ward table saw from a bearing house. I requested "anything but China or India. He came out and said all they had was Chinese and that they were $5.20 each. I asked if I could order some from another country and he looked on his puter and discovered that they had some of the same bearings from Japan and they were 10 cents apiece more. I walked out of there with a genuine smile on my face!
