Non Flex 80tooth snap ons on the way...

My Dealer was walking around with some snap on corprate guy, he was 1 or 2 levels above a field service manager, and he told me snap on will be releasing a long and standard length non flex head verson if the 80 tooth ratchets in about a month. I recall he mentioned that they will be in comfort handle though.

Just though I would pass that on to you guys before everybody bought the flex heads, I for one get annoyed with flex head ratchets.

Flexheads have their place. Just don't be expecting to use it in a high torque scenario when the head is "flexed". Kinda of defeats the purpose of this ratchet if you think about it.

They have come in super handy for me many times, like around corners and crazy stuff like that.

Regarding Jim's comment about the comfort handle...do you guys like these comfort grip ratchets? I've never owned one.

I wonder if the new one will have the different grip on it (like the new screwdrivers).

I do not like comfort grip on screwdrivers, ratchets, or anything else. But as I shared in the screwdriver thread I always have liked the standard issue plastic handles on both screwdrivers, and the ratchets.

I love the new comfort grip handles on the Snap-On ratches. Very easy to hold and so far easy to keep clean.

Not using? The only tools I collect are old Plomb, but I never pay but a few bucks for any one item.

the comfort grip handles are easily cleaned with brake cleaner or other such solvents. safety kleen works good also.

Are the heads the same size as the 36 tooth ratchet? One guy in another thread said he thought the 80 tooth ratchet head looked slightly bigger. If that's the case, I'll be disappointed.

I just got the F80, its a tad bigger than the old 936. The head is a little longer.

it is same with 36 tooth ratchet head... i did compare with other snap on ratchet from other tech. it is slimmer but little long (it is not thick...)

It'll take me a some time to get used to not seeing any screws on top. They already did away with the screw that went through the switch when they moved to the 936 series.

They tweak the design so there is no confusing them with old model's. It is another way to convince us to part with our hard earned dollar's.

I like the old models just fine; as a matter of fact, I like the old F831 better than any of them.

I do to, but the look sells just as much as function. I wanted the new one because it had 80 teeth and it is a tear drop head ratchet.
