Hello all!

I've been planning a big garage build for a few months and all the research I was doing kept bringing me to this website. So I figured it was time to join!

I am expanding my existing 24x22x8 two car garage to be a 3 car 24x36x10 workshop.

I like my motorized toys so this will be the proper home for my toys. I've been shoehorning things in for years and my wife is finally giving me the green light to expand. This has been a dream as long as I can remember.

My plan is to put in all the goodies, including a lift. I'll have all kinds of questions in the months ahead.

Here are some of the toys needing a new home.

Interesting fact: I own 38 tires. (discuss)

Interested in how you do the 10' height. I have 24*24*8 and want to go to 10' before I finish the interior.

Also interested in how tie slab together as I'm also adding a leanto on my gable end with a new 24*10 pad under it that will be tied to existing slab.

The thread in my signature line has more information on the build-up. It involves taking off the roof and raising each wall. In my case I'll cannibalize the roof to build the wall extensions, but in your case, it sounds like you want to save the existing roof. I'm sure that could be done, but more challenging.

As for tieing the slab, the advice I was given is your bore rebar into the sides of the existing slab and set them with concrete epoxy. Then pour the new pad. Once the whole structure is done, you then pour a new finish coat to get slope etc.
