Short answer - Yes

the spm-29P has the round screw on lid plastic index box

the SPM-29 is the same drill bits in a regular metal index box

If you're organizing it, it would've been much less confusing to start a new thread rather than the first post have old info. Most people don't bother reading the dates.

I imagine he was thinking the OP would pipe in and say yeah, let's do it again...

i guess what i am getting at, poorly, i know, is that for this to really be a deal, the price for that set would need to be substantially less than the price listed previously.

You are right there are many dreamers around that just go nuts over the word deal when there is no deal... laughable A deal starts at 30%, real deals go from there.

There can always be a group buy put together. You just need to know what you want. The Norseman catalog can be downloaded. They have most everything that one can want.

There were quite a few past threads put together with lots of questions and lots of answers. The last group buy was quite a while. I would have to check to see if their pricing has changed.

That's where I'm at too. I looked at the pricing from the start of this thread on what I was interested in and compared it to pricing available now, and didn't see any significant savings, certainly nothing to get drills any closer to the top of my to-buy list.

^^ Maybe you guys are seeing similar pricing on the most common jobber sets, but I'm not finding it on the screw machine sets. The group buy prices were:

66490 75.00 screw machine length 1/16-1/2
66850 89.00 screw machine length letter
23560 68.00 screw machine length wire #1-60

whereas the best I see online is $99 each incl. shipping:

Many of us who run machine tools like the screw machine length, as they are a lot more rigid and one rarely needs the extra length.

I would love to see a group buy on these...

EDIT: the Black Oxide or TiNi versions would be fine, too -- I think most of us who machine are indifferent about coatings (except the guys running production). Definitely prefer the metal cases, though!
