I just received 3 sets of the screw machine length bits. I haven't poked any holes yet. The finish of the grinding is very very nice! I checked a bunch of them and found no irregularities. The split points are dead on as well. This is to be expected but having seen the hf cobalt bits up close and personal, I found all kinds of assymetries. The huot indexes are top notch. This again being compared to the imports 115 index sets. I like how the huot numbering and lettering is all stamped for each bit so nothing can wear off over time.

Overall, I'm very pleased and look forward to getting some great holes with these. I know that you guys that are expecting these will be super happy. Patrick really is offering us gj members incredible pricing on incredible bits. Normally to get good pricing on group buys, the offerings are very limited. He is offering any Norseman set at stupid good pricing! If you guys are kind of interested, think it over. This deal is over at the end of the month. After that pricing will be back to normal, shipping will be back to normal levels and no free cutting fluid.

Ordered two of the 66850s. Thanks PT Doc, for pulling this together.

Harry, I am happy to get a good deal and pass one along when I can. If interest in this Norseman buy reaches a certain level, other deals could materialize.

Is that a good set for drilling anything but hard metal?

Neonlazer,

That high speed steel, bright finished drill set is indeed good for anything but hard steel (ex: wood, plastic, aluminum).

FYI: Black oxide drills clog in wood and cause galling issues in aluminum.

Cool, Thanks. That should compliment the machine length black/gold well..

Got my drill bits today. Packed well and looked great. Even had free cutting oil thrown in. These things make the rest of the bits I have look like cheap ****, which they are. Thanks PT and Patrick!

Do these deals cover us Canadians as well? I will call P and order a couple sets Monday, if they do.

Blackjack,

Patrick will cover the cost that was intended within the US and you can pay the difference. For example, if the free shipping would have amounted to $20 US then you would pay the difference between the actual cost to ship to you in Canada and the $20. I feel that this is fair considering the shipping costs to you guys in Cananda seems to be quite high at times. Contact him when you are ready. Thanks

I've got several sets on their way to Canada. Patrick noticed one odd feature of one set (the color wasn't correct) and he called the factory to make sure they were fine, and called me to make sure I was happy with them before he shipped them. Excellent service.
And as PT Doc said, he deducted the US shipping cost from the (larger, obviously) Canadian price. Very fair - all good.

PT_Doc,

One brand I would be interested for the next group buy is Proto. However, since Proto is not on ISC's manufacturers list, I do not know if it is possible. Based on the list, I would choose the JH Williams Tools Group, specifically Bahco.

This Norseman deal ends today. Please finalize your orders with Patrick. If you miss today's cutoff, Patrick will still be able to provide you with Norseman product but it will be at his regular pricing, with regular shipping charges and no free cutting fluid. Thanks

Can't wait for mine! :)
........ Just like Christmas!

so it worked out good with the shipping to Canada it seems. you guys deserve some good deals too. I have noticed that some sellers do not want to deal with Canadian buyers for some reason. I don't have a good understanding why though. you will enjoy them for sure.

any other brand you are partial to that you would like to see good deals for ?

I am not all knowing with Norseman goods, but to me it looks like the difference is the case. Should be the same black and gold drills in either a round plastic cylindrical case or a HUOT metal index.

If you want further clarification please call Norseman.

Question:
What is the difference between your Norseman 66480 -$87.00 and Amazon set

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00627C8ZU/?tag=atomicindus08-20

???

66480 is mechanics length in steel index
44170 Is jobber length in polymer case

Hope that helps.

Thanks to all those that participated in making this group buy a success.

I am going to try to get Patrick to do a similar deal with another brand. What brands would you guys like to see offered?

My sets just arrived - Canada customs was slow. I haven't had a chance to use them yet, but they are clearly very high quality. They were well packed and I will not hesitate to order from Patrick again.

ordered 2 sets about 4 weeks ago. about the time i should have received them patrick called and told me 1 set was on back order and he would mail the set he had with no shipping cost. i told him to hold the set and ship both at same time to save himself the cost. about 10 days pass and he calls to inform me that the 2nd set is still on back order and that he was sending the set he had in stock with no shipping charge,
he also informed me that he would not bill me for either set until he got the 2nd set shipped. so far great person to work with and he has taken it upon himself to call me several times to keep me updated. just would like to thank him for outstanding customer service and I'm sure if you get another deal going i will be sending him more money.

My two set sets arrived this weekend and I am very impressed with the quality. I drilled a couple of test holes in some 3/8" scrap I had and was amazed at how smooth they worked. If you do this group buy again in the fall, I would like to buy a couple of more sets of drill bits.

I slacked and contacted Patrick the day after the sale ended. He still gave me the group pricing and free cutting fluid. Received my stuff yesterday. Very happy.
