I have really enjoyed the ideas and information I have gleaned from this website over the years, so I guess its my turn to take the time to post some pictures of my shop. I live at 2300 ft elevation, so not real harsh winters (normally) I did insulate the "workshop" room with R21 fiberglass batts, and sheetrocked the walls. The rest of the building is not insulated besides the vapor barrier in the ceiling. The building is 42'x132' overall with the Workshop room being 42'x48'

The plane is a 1964 "Polen Special" race plane. It was built in the Portland area and raced at reno. It wasn't competitive, but set a one lap speed record in it's class in 64. It was in a Museum for about 3 decades until the museum closed down, and after trying in vain to sell it for over a year, the guy storing it was going to cut it up with a sawzall and chuck it in a dumpster. I heard about it from a friend and, well, I can't turn down a free plane !! It would have been cool to hang it from the ceiling, but my trusses weren't meant for that kind of weight, so it got placed on some steel brackets that take the load all the way down to the floor, and I just didn't put the left wing back on it.

Thank you ! It's not quite done yet, i still need to finish the interior and get the top and hood put on it, but it's pretty fun as-is ! It took me about 3 years to get it to this stage, I stared with a bare Brookville body and a frame.

Nice layout!! Two questions.. 1. Who sweeps the floor?? 2. Where is the 75" TV, and, the PC??

Well, I don't sweep very often !!! I usually use a leaf-blower when the wind is right !(and, shamefully, I don't do that much either !!) I don't even watch the TV in my house, so don't need one in the shop, and I don't have internet out there (yet)

Niiiiice! As a fellow Central Oregonian I approve... and subscribed. I also have very close to the same Kubota - one of the best tools I've ever invested in.
And I'm digging that 'hardware isle' of your shop. I'd like to do very much the same but I don't have quite that much stock on hand (yet).

Also just noticed your mill and lathe; would love to know more. I recently picked up a PM1130v lathe and have been having fun learning the in's & out's of machining, but I'm still very much a noob.

The Mill and lathe are actually on craigslist for sale right now ! I just don't use them very often and have friends with the same equipment for the rare occasion I need to machine something. They are just something I wanted since taking the classes in high school, so I shopped around and bought some good used machines, but about all I know how to do on the lathe is make round stuff into smaller round stuff, and knurl. I know I could figure out threading, just haven't needed to and have too many other hobbies to get exited about it.

The Kubota tractor is a great little beast, and I don't know what I would do without it ! I bought it almost 10 years ago on a 0 down 0% interest for 5 years deal, and never regretted it. The month I payed it off after 5 years of payments, I went in and bought the Kubota excavator on the same 0 down and 0% deal, it's also been an awesome unit, five stars, highly recommend !!!!

I really like having hardware on hand, and for years bought every bolt bin I came across, which ended up being a unorganized mess. When I built this shop, I planned out a hardware room to keep stuff tidy and out of the way, and sold most of my random bolt bins, kept only the good assortments and what I thought I might actually use, and spent the money I made selling the used stuff on ordering a new bin assortment of grade 8 fine thread sae, and one in metric, to round out what I didn't have. I live about 45 miles each way to the closest real hardware store, so I like to be prepared. The big stack of pull-out hardware store bins on the right of the isle came from a guy selling out his shop in Las Vegas several years ago. I was coming home with a Pickup, in the winter, and the weight was an extra bonus !
