Guys,

I have been trolling the site for a few days gathering information. I am currently deployed to the middle east, so online and email is my only means of contact with the outside world. Upon returning in spring 2014 I will be building a 40x64x16 pole barn that will be used for horses. I have done numerous searches online for both building kits and builders.

I have received quotes from DIY, national barn, Cleary, Morton, 64 Metals, Battaglia Construction, Pole Barns Direct, Blitz builders for just the kit and also for labor to build. I am hoping the members on this forum can provide me with some recommendation on the best company to go with from your experience.

I would really like to go with Amish construction as there is a large amish community only 30 miles away in Middlefield, OH. Of course being 7,000 miles away makes it difficult. Any help with contacts for Amish builders in that area is also greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

The larger companies have better warranties (usually). One I didn't see in your list was Wick Buildings, who I used. The foreman who would be assigned to your build, if you had a builder construct it, is nearly as important as the company.

Cleary and Morton are usually nice buildings. 64 Metals maybe using Amish for labor as they are close to an area that has an Amish population.

A few of the guys around here use these guys for their building materials, they stamp their own material. It was owned by an Amish family but they sold out to a larger corporation. Part of the family was doing the construction part. It might be worth shooting them an email.

BTW, since you are deployed, I'm guessing you're a veteran, feel free to post up in OUR link in my sig.

I wouldn't let the amish build me a dog house. I saw how they hacked together my neighbors barn. No thanks!

I had an Amish crew from Pierpont, OH build my barn and they did an incredible job. My barn is standard footer/foundation construction but the crew I used also does pole barns. I have since referred this crew to others and all have had good things to say.

PM me for contact info.

Nutt,

No I am a Transportation Officer, currently with the 371 Sustainment Brigade out of Springfield, OH. Earlier deployments were as a Platoon Leader in 2003-2004 running convoys all over Iraq and as a Combat Advisor with Ohio's Infantry Brigade Combat Team in Afghanistan in 2012.
