Does your local store stock them? I'd have to order but the online price still shows $399

These have been setting in the clearance bay for a couple of months

when you go in and just ask him where their clearance bay is
The stores I go to have 2 in different bays in 2 different parts of the store

They use to stock them. I'm sure they won't any more.

And for the record, when I looked on line they still showed $399, not even the $196 that has been on them for over 2 months

I called the store and they said they could order one for me in store for 137 plus tax. Does anyone have any experience with these, they have mixed reviews

My store does not stock them anymore. There is a spot on the shelf, but they told me they are no longer stocking them.

OP, would you be interested in selling one? I am only a couple hours from you, lol.

Thanks to the OP. I picked up two as well from a store about 20 minutes from me. $44 each. The person checking me out said holy cow, that's a great deal!

" Tried this anvil, needed one fast. Too soft of metal to be worth the money. 1 hr of work , looked like the moon. unless you want it for a boat anchor, don't buy "

Kind of what I expected...

I just got one for $44. The person said "Wow", when it rang up for 44 bucks. They had two, with no indication anywhere that it was on sale. It had some ridiculous 400 dollar price on it, but range up as $44. I figured I'd leave the other one for the next guy.

Since there is no indication this is on sale in the store, unless you actually knew about this deal, you would walk right by it and think it was 400 bucks.

Here's some pics.

If you just want an anvil to beat things on, like straighten bent bar stock, or back a panel a cast anvil is acceptable. For actual forging and smith work it will be woefully inadequate. I'd snap one up at $50 for the above work rather than the small anvil surface on the back of a bench vise. Plenty of info on what a good anvil is online with a search.

Right. I've been using the small anvil on the back of my vise, or a piece of railroad track I have. So this 100 pound cast anvil is an improvement. I'm not doing blacksmith work, just need something to pound and straighten things out on.

I'm thinking to get some 2x4's or 4x4's and building a stand for it, similar to the size and shape of a tree stump to mount this on.

This thing doesn't "ring" like my railroad track when I beat it with a hammer, it more "thumps" when I beat it. I think a good anvil will "ring" when you strike it, not go "thud". Oh well, for less than 50 bucks I'm not complaining.

I stop by NT yesterday to see if they could find out if anybody else locally had any more of those Anvils. Thought I might be able to make a little more money.
I did find a few things out. Although no one locally has them, I could order at the current store price (which is still $44) and they would ship me as many as I wanted to that store.
If your store has them for $137, then that's your price
SC distribution center has 68

Problem is it would be considered Sp Order, there for not returnable.

It's correct a good forged anvil will ring like hardened steel...since it is. The cast ones will deform under heavy use from what I've read/heard.
