Has anyone been to nothern tool latly If you can find somthing mase in the USA good luck. A few years ago i bought a arcan 20 ton hydraulic press the frame is made in the usa but the hydraulic jack made in china it leaks and woks like ****. They seem to have gone with torin presses and jacks with the entire tool made in china. I stopped going there its so disapointing they had USA made tools that the replaced with cheap ****.

From what I've seen, it's been that way for a while- at least a couple of years.

Some of those Torin tool boxes look pretty good though... ;)

Northern Tool = expensive Harbor Freight.

That's about right. Sometimes they have great deals, but they always seem to gouge you on the shipping. I stopped buying from them years ago. If I need lower HF quality stuff, I go directly to the local HF outlet and save the shipping.

Northern tool has some interesting stuff but the shipping like goodfellow says, is where they get you.

No kidding, $147 shipping on a $120 toolbox. They claimed that
"FedEx & UPS charge us more than normal bexcause we ship so much stuff".
Checked with UPS & FedEx, actual shipping would have been $60...
Got a better deal at Sears..
NT will NEVER see 1c from me.

I know for a fact that the more a company ships, the LOWER their prices are. Shipping companies make special deals with high volume shippers all the time. Amazon, for example.

Northern Tool And Harbor Freight each have store about a mile a part approximately 20 miles from my house. When I go to one, I usually stop at both. Norther Tool has a larger selection of the big stuff, with more on display, but the prices are always higher. With that said, my first stop is always Tractor Supply Company. TSC is closer, has a lot of the same stuff, and usually beats NT and HF on price. I found this to be true recently when shopping around for a parts washer, a sand blaster, and a 60 gallon compressor. All 3 stores had very similar offerings, but TSC was the cheapest in every instance.

My IR thungergun came from Northern. When I was looking to buy the gun a few years back, they had the best prices around.
