Hey all,
I moved many miles north of the Seattle area about 17 months ago. I've mostly been working on home upgrades, learning to deal with a large property and maintaining my cars. The garage is starting to see it's potential but I haven't been doing as much as I'd like. I'm hoping to get some good advice here and maybe help a few out in the process.

I've been in the PNW most of my 65 years and without Googling I don't think i've heard of your little island (or maybe it's big).

anyways if you need help navigating around this place just start posting on my DIY thread (link in my sig line) or find other threads you like and get to know us.

welcome!!

Anacortes is the 'big' city on Fidalgo Island, which probably many PWN people recognize. I live on the unincorporated south side of the island, across the bay from Deception Pass State Park.

Here's a shot from the garage doors.

it's a SNOW DAY here that is for certain so guessing you took that picture a while ago?

nice looking driveway and good to know where Fidalgo is (sort of).

again welcome to GJ and I hope to see you post on a few of the threads I enjoy or find some you like.

what are your interests?

speaking of snow day here's a pic of my deck 20 minutes ago and i'm south of you about 90 minutes just above Puget Sound. is it snowing at your place too?

Thanks all for the welcome messages. Yep, that picture was probably taken in August last year. Right now, I'm pretty much buried under snow and it's not letting up. Added an Island Geography 101 lesson (see picture) and threw in a couple bridges just for good measure.

As for interests, mostly DIY home and car, guitar playing, that sort of thing. I've owned and modified Corvettes, Miatas and more. Thinking of putting a super charger in my RAM truck. Starting to get interested in landscape stuff/yardwork again too, more out of necessity...

great pic. it also looks like the DOT is painting your bridge to Whidbey which is nice to see cause a lot of our steel bridges are falling apart.

I recall renting a boat on a little lake just north of the bridge years ago with my bride and as we were rowing out into the middle of the lake an EAGLE swooped down and scooped up a big fish in it's talons and flew off.

looks like PARADISE from my chair.

also just another reminder i'm posting a lot of my home DIY stuff on a garage gallery thread and I ALWAYS have questions so feel free to follow along so maybe you can help me while maybe I teach you a few things.

cheers and STAY WARM!!

Welcome to the forum!

A few years back, I took a ferry from Victoria (actually Swartz Bay) to Anacortes before head out to Interstate 5 and points south.

The inlaws live just north of Victoria, they have 8" of fresh snow on the ground currently.
