For those of you in the Northwestern CT area the Torrington Sears Hardware store is closing. Everything in the store is currently 10 - 20% off. Next week some stuff will be 30%. The discounts will get better as the closing date of mid October nears or if the store sells out before hand. The only thing is the selection will get leaner.

I was in there yesterday and the amount of stuff still currently in there looks like it always has. I'm planning on going back several times in the next few weeks to see what deals there are.

Already happened here in Michigan. They closed all the Sears Hardware stores. Found me some good stuff. It's sad, though. Sears has been a standby in American retail history, along with Marshall Fields - which isnow Macy's.

Crazy, huh?

I never understood the Sears Hardware and where it fit in - it's a Sears tool section with overpriced hardware and no auto section. I guess they don't need them anymore with KMart on line with Craftsman tools.

Closed the one in Lansing Il. last year. It was handy for me, only five min. away. The girl said they didn't make enough to pay the rent. The building is a Goodwill store now.

I've never been a great fan of Sears Hardware, other than the fact that it gives you more Sears locations. Really it's just Sears with worse hours.
