I'm always amazed when stuff like this turns up with the original packaging and documentation. That's a great vise and you've clearly come to the right place to show it off.

Welcome.

Sweet! Are you going to use it?

Nope. I have plenty of vises and this will probably be sold at some point to a collector as the value of it as a tool pales in its value as being kept as an example of what they looked like fresh from the factory.

Interesting that the "toddler" size vise didn't get the same upgrades in 1979 as the larger models. Compared to the vise on the instruction manual, it doesn't have the larger anvil and straighter bullet body.

I mean it’s not too surprising considering they were still using the Chicago casting when they had been at Schiller Park for a while at that point.

Welcome to the group and NICE SCORE!

I have a bullet of each size from 2-5 inches but none are NOS.

I have an NOS Wilton Scout with the box but that’s pretty tame.

Yeah I have had 2-6” beforehand. I actually got this guy because of experience not luck. I messaged the guy one hour after he posted figured I was the the first and never heard from him. He deleted the post and a day later I messaged him again. He had it list for $60 but someone told him it was worth a lot more(which it was) so he removed the post. I offered many times his original asking price and he accepted it. Learned a longtime ago if it doesn’t say sold ask can’t hurt to ask after the fact.

I got my Wilton bullet because someone wrote in a thread here about how they bought two of them from a factory shutting down and they mentioned they'd be selling one of them. Then a guy in the thread called dibs and said he was interested in buying it. I saw the thread about a week later, messaged the OP and said I was interested if it was still available. It was, because the guy who was interested didn't respond to the OP's messages.

Never hurts to ask!

OP is correct! Always asking politely about what else they may have or is anything else for sale has rewarded me with incredible scores. Think positive and be hopeful, be smart.

One was answering an ad for a broken wood jointer, while standing in his front yard I asked if he has anything else for sale? We walked to the backyard to a free standing five car garage absolutely full of machinist tooling from McDonnell Douglas aerospace where his dad was an engineer (no cars). I went home with five station wagon loads of tools (made five trips). He was really keen on selling bulk so the price kept going down and down as the pile got bigger to almost $150/per car load. Never bought the jointer.

Another ad I responded to was for a $100 drill press and asking if he had anything else to sell after seeing some vague items in the background and ended up with this (see pic) for an extra $150 and still loving the drill press. Just two of the small Albrechts paid for everything.

All my best deals ended up by inquiring and asking politely.

Great scores macgee!

Albrecht is the magic word isn’t it?
I found one Albrecht chuck in a pile of tools that a guy offered me. Like you, that one piece sold on eBay more than paid for the entire lot.

Those Wilton toddlers seem more rare than babies. I have only seen one in the wild that I bought on C/L a few years ago for an even $100
