So I had order my boyfriend a couple christmas presents from sears today. Well i go to the store to pick up my items. Sure I wait for a bit, well than the guy brings me out my items and the box that had one gift in it I got looked like someone just threw it around and didnt even care. So I go in and complain and say I want a different one that doesnt look this bad and beat up as it is a gift. So it takes the guy 30 mins just to look in the back than he comes and tells me all the other boxes were worst than mine. Somehow i didn't believe him at all. I was just really mad that they really dont care how the item looks and how ****** the service was today. I think I may be giving sears a break for a bit, plus it seems like the sears I went to is turning ghetto now. Has anyone else ever had a problem with sears and the boxes being beat up? Last year when I had order a creeper for my boyfriend the box was nothing compared to the one I had.

Hey, what exactly were the items with the damaged boxes? When I worked at Sears; there were particular items that the boxes would get damaged; many times because they were terribly heavy (e.g. jacks; jack stands, etc.) and many times the packaging that the manufacturer chose, just wasn't up to the task. During shipping and in the warehouse; most things are exactly delicately handled either... hopefully the items are packaged correctly to keep the contents protected; when you move this stuff around all day... you can get jaded and not exactly handle it with kid gloves. Again, let us know what the items were... if you are not getting the help you need or are unhappy; as for the MOD (manager on duty) and see if they can help. If you are not satisfied or don't get anywhere; call the sears customer relations hotline and they should be able to help you out. Sears is not the greatest customer service or products; there are other options out there...

I work in the stock room at sears...a lot of the stuff comes to us in terrible shape. There's not much the guys workin there can do. So it's best to get a manager and complain.

I would have complained, but i just didn't have time to stand around and wait. Had to be at work by 1:30. I would post a picture of the box, but than the boyfriend would be nosiey about what he is getting for christmas. It is sad thou that they can't have a little better packaging or something.

On the bright side, now you can put a fully-assembled seat in a big box next to the tree. Big boxes are great.

An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
Talk to the manager and get the District Manager's phone number. I had a problem with a Craftsman Professional roller cabinet that I bought that came with no key to lock it. The store too 2 months and never produced the key, once I got a hold of the District Manager I ended up getting a 25% refund and the key came in three days.

Move up the food chain until you like the taste of what they are serving is my advice.

Anytime you ask them to "go in the back to check" they just step behind the door/wall to sit down and take a short break.

Haha! That is true. I was thinking about putting a big bow on it and calling it good or just wrapping it and letting him put it all together.

"Sears Cares" now that is truly funny. If Sears really did care, they'd start listening to their customers and quit making tools in China or sell the Craftsman name to a company that really does care about America.

I agree. That Sears Cares dude, needs to read the other 80,000 posts on here about bad Sears experiances, and report our sentiments.

Or you could read a few of the good Sears experiences, and quit jumping on the band wagon. Its a giant chain, **** happens, and people today seem to enjoy discussing their bad experiences more than the good.

Ive been buying from Sears my entire life, close to three decades, and cannot count the number of positive experiences Ive had. OTOH, I cant recall a single bad experience there, unlike my experiences with quite a few other major retailers.

How sadly ironic - you expect SEARS to care about America, when 90% of their customers only care about one thing - PRICE; and 98% of their stockholders only care about one thing - PROFIT.

The Customers and Stockholders killed the Goose.... That applies to both SEARS and America.

The Craftsman Brand was thrown under the bus by very inept management decisions years ago and that had nothing to do with China. When the marketing minds at Craftsman decided to put the Craftsman name on cheaply made junk - they flushed the value of the Brand down the drain. They quite selling Quality and instead opted for PRICE.

I have been shopping at sears for a long time myself, not quite as long as you. My gripe isn't with the customer service. I have had a few minor issues, not many. My problem is taking American jobs/tools and shipping them over seas to save a buck. This is going to end up costing Sears in the long run.

First it makes Sears look bad, not that they need a lot of help at this point.

Second replacing quality tools with cheap junk means Sears will have to warranty tools more times than they would with quality tools. Build something to last and it will do just that.

Third long time customers like myself aren't going to stand for this much longer and we will take our money else where.

My advice for Sears is to actually start caring. Start listening to your customers and what they want. Sure I like good value for the dollar as much as they next guy, but switching to Chinese junk and keeping the same price is not a good value. I for one would gladly pay more for American made tools, just to know my money is staying here and going to the hard working men and women of America.

Most people buying stuff in Sears, or Lowes, or Home Depot, or wherever don't care about the COO. Very rarely do you find people that do, and even if they do they "complain" about it but buy the cheaper import regardless. Sears moving to overseas production won't hurt them nearly as much as you think, in fact maybe they can be competitive again and people will buy their products just like the flood of people shopping in HF do.

Of course, so far Sears has failed to reduce the price on their products that are imported so its a moot point anyway.
