No place gives you the exposure of items you want to sell then Ebay and I thank them for that. There are also months when my bill is over $300 but I consider the good with the bad. Over the last few years I like (when I remember) to end by description with bigger bold print

GOD BLESS THE AMERICAN WORKER AND WORKERS PAST THAT MADE THESE WONDERFUL TOOLS

In my last 2 listings, Ebay has deleted that living testament to us and our families before us that worked hard and not just in the trades. I'm too old to get mad and rant. I'm just disappointed and wondering what this world is coming to.

This example is not to promote my vises. Older listing

It's all part of the garbage that goes on all over the place these days so as not to offend anyone who dosn't share your views. It goes on here everyday too and that's all I got to say about that...

Edited because I see the post I quoted was removed.

'It's now very common to hear people say, "I'm rather offended by that", as if that gives them certain rights. It's no more than a whine. It has no meaning, it has no purpose, it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. "I'm offended by that." Well, so ******* what?' —Stephen Fry

BLESS THE AMERICAN WORKER AND WORKERS PAST THAT MADE THESE WONDERFUL TOOLS probably wouldn't get deleted...

That's a plan. I'll edit..(10 minutes later) Nope, Ebay will not allow that phrase even without the Man in it.

eBay has gone off the deep end with their editing, mandating and Big Brother attitude. This is just another example of changes over the last year or so that are inexcusable.

They wouldn't let me post an ad last week that said that the item I was selling was "like new," which by all accounts was a perfect description. I bought it brand new, decided I didn't like it, never used it and listed to sell on eBay. It was LIKE NEW. It was denied when I went to finish the listing because of those 2 words. I had to change it to "lightly used" which was in fact, less accurate than the original phrase.

They are trying to protect everyone from everything, and it's parallel with the ongoing dumbing down of society. Jay Leno, Walmart, McDonald's, eBay and others—all pandering to the least common denominator.

A few years ago, Mark Cuban wrote an article about the Black Swan theory in business. The fact that all businesses have a finite end, when competition will eventually make your product better, faster or cheaper. When that day comes, you had better have prepared for the inevitable end of your 15-minutes of fame. eBay seems to think they are immune from the inevitable internet deflate.

"There will always be a company that replaces you. At some point your BlackSwan competitor will appear and they will kick your ***. Their product will be better or more interesting or just better marketed than yours, and it also will be free. They will be Facebook to your Myspace, or Myspace to your Friendster or Google to your Yahoo." --Mark Cuban

eBay's black swan will be the best thing that could happen for a LOT of people. It can't come soon enough for me.

If you think about it, eBay's non-denominational, non-sectarian, non-partisan, non-racial, non-orientation-specific methods could actually make your ad reach a wider customer base, since nothing in it can cause them to skip over your ad out of any affront to their sensitivities.

American companies these day operate globally and their customers are all over the world (not just American). They want to be neutral and not show preference to any nationality or religion. Neutrality allow them to make the most profit and avoid lawsuits. I don't see anything wrong with companies pursuing a neutrality policy.

But shouldn't this be the choice of the person doing the selling and not ebay? If I want to sell something on eBay and don't mind alienating some of my potential buyers, isn't that my choice?

How do you know that's the reason they deleted it? What did ebay's explanation say was the reason? What rule was violated?

I had a couple listings (wrongly) deleted for using a trade name. If memory serves, they automatically send an email saying why it was deleted.

No, that's ridiculous. Just the same as a TV network refusing to run a certain ad. Ebay's service, Ebay's rules.

Reedit it. YOU ARE PAYING THEM TO ADVERTISE ON THEIR SITE... Ebay isn't your only alternative, you also have Amazon. It's your ad and I can't see how it violates any terms of agreement.

True!

Them and paypal too. Screw them and their anti-gun policies as well.

I've been hoping for years that Google will someday take over the Ebay space. Imagine free listings!
Google has always been about the user, not "how do we maximize profits?". Google seems to have pride in ownership and I don't see that at Ebay. And boy, does the Ebay interface ****! Took me a long time just to figure out how to see completed listings.

Take Bless out and add I Salute

Thanks for your suggestion. It still was a no go. I will use it however on my next new listing to see what happens. Certainly not worth spending any more time on. I'll keep you guys posted.
