Not garage floor - bamboo

Anyone have long term (5+ years) experience with the pre-finished, thin (< 1/2" thick) click-lock, floating bamboo flooring you can buy at Lumber Liquidators ? Does the finish hold up ?

Installation looks a simple DIY job. No glue, no nails. The price is reasonable if you install it yourself.

I put some in 5 years ago in my old home. I used the floor for 2 years.
It was a basement floor.
The floor has to be perfectly level.
Product went together easy. Unlike the horror stories you here about cheap locking wood.

It lasted fine for the time i was there. But there were area rugs also.

Oh and remember to leave a gap under the trim or 1/4 round. So the floor has room to expand.

I did about 1000 Sq.Ft 5-6 years ago. We spend a lot of time with a designer and a contractor trying to figure out how to go. We ended up going with a laminate. After checking reviews and local sources we were really concerned about Bamboo unless we could fork over high $$ for the high end. The floor came out awesome and everyone thought it was real.

I run a flooring company. Lumber Liquidators only sells floors and does not install. My installers have done many side jobs over the years for people who have bought many different types of woods and laminates from Lumber Liquid. EVERY time I ask how it went, they complain( "nightmare" is usually what I hear....) about quality of the wood.....mostly poor construction of the laminates or poor millwork of the hardwoods.

I am not trying to steer you away from LL, just be careful of quality.

If the locking system on the floor from LL is the "Quick-Step" system, you should be safe
