Not getting email notifications for new posts in threads I'm subscribed to...

I saw there were some kind of persistent alerts add-ons that could fire even if you hadn't visited the thread or gone to the end(?) of the thread. Not sure if that would get too spammy but maybe something like that would help?

I am having this issue where after I choose "watched" threads I start getting alerts when new posts are made. Then I stop getting these so I check the thread and there are several posts I wasn't alerted to. Don't understand why all the sudden the alerts to a watched thread stop.

Yup!!!!

That is the new Site process. you get ONE notice for the first nre post. if you don't go look AND READ TO THE END (new page, you not at the end...).

Once you do that, you get ONE new notice after that last post... Rinse and repeat...

I keep a tab open to https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/find-threads/contributed

Then if I miss one, or fail to turn a page, I can reload that page and see then as unread....

I only have a couple of watched threads and always read them to the end, but I only get one notification, and have to end and restart notifications to get another notification.

I'm still having the issue of notifications stopping. I always read from the notified post to the end. But notifications still stop coming. Is it possible that, while I am reading a busy thread starting at the post I was notified about, a new post is added that I don't see because I don't reload before closing the thread? Would the system think I did not go to the end even though I never loaded the last post because I opened the thread before the last post was added?

Maybe try clearing all cookies for your browser? I have done what you described and the new post is usually waiting on email, or gets there shortly.

I'm adding to this old thread rather than creating a new one with the same (and more) issues. I no longer receive anything from GJ to my Yahoo email account. Nothing is showing in spam either. It started as occasionally not getting a notification to a thread I was subscribed to here and there and then to total radio silence. I realized it was a complete outage (for me) when I tried logging in from a different computer in my house (that I have used for GJ many times before) and since the 30 day period (Trust This Device For 30 Days) had expired - it emailed me another authorization cod. The authorization code email never came through. I've checked my profile and see where there is a greyed out statement about Push Notifications are Blocked, but I pretty much have Allow checked for pretty much every kind of notification.

I'm at a loss here...

Two different PCs: one is a Win 10 Laptop running Chrome and the other is a Win 7 Desktop running Firefox. Other forums I am on all notifications are coming into my Yahoo mail like normal. I'm worried on my laptop that my 30 days will run out and I'll be locked out of GJ...

I haven't been getting email notifications to my Yahoo account either. Seems like it's been a couple of weeks or so.

You can create a new G-mail and on GJ change from yahoo to the new account.

I made the complete shift from Yahell to Gmail some months back, and even transferred my entire history of Yahoo mail as well. Its only a matter of time before they shut Yahoo mail down. better to beat the rush..

****! I hate to hear that... I have SO MUCH tied to my Yahoo, and everything else is still working just fine. I'd have to switch soooo many other things to another email account, one that I monitor regularly... I sent a PM to Ryan to see if he knows of anything that can be done. It was a good run here, my favorite forum!

Not necessarily. Comcast is migrating their comcast.net email to Yahoo. I doubt Comcast would do that if they thought Yahoo was going away.

Yes and they just sent me a notice that my storage (all of us) on the free version was being increased - that doesn't sound like a shutdown to me...

About two months ago I stopped getting all my "Watched Thread" email notifications. I'll usually get 1 notification email per day, but the link takes me to a post a few days in the past.

Has anyone had this happen to them before?

I tried reaching out to the admins, but haven't received any response. I tried "unwatching" the threads then "watching" them again, but nothing seems to work...

Losing watched threads

I use the watch thread without sending emails feature. The feature works fine under most conditions, but I was missing updates on many watched threads and couldn't figure out what was going on. After some analysis, I think that the issue is related to new posts and when you read the thread...

Nah, I'm not getting any emails for all the current posts in watched threads. Those will probably show up in a few days...maybe.

@Ryan - this morning, I received email notifications on over 30 threads I was subscribed to, some of the posts as far back as Sunday. Previously, I was only receiving notifications sporadically. If you did something, it worked.

Looks like it has quit working once again. I haven't received any email notifications since December 11th. Looking at my notifications here, I should have received about 60 emails between then and now.
