Welcome to the
Yep I'm Bleeding Again Garage
build thread

bought a 32x72x12 from Menards. I have the guy down the street putting it up. got the brother inlaw coming out to level and spreed some stone. been talking about this for years, even decided against it and started a small shop in my garage but a hail storm hit and the cars were out. kinda changed the bosses mind.

BTW, there was a huge barn that they had a tool room in it. wondering if anyone knows the post I am talking about. tried finding it cause I am thinking about it.

Well I am excited, 11 years we have been starting and stopping this project. we have never gotten this far. They came out to dig the holes for the posts. Now it is just waiting for the hole inspection. yep willcounty not only Sticks it too you they wanna inspect the hole too. Oh and there is no black dirt to scrap off, just weeds growing in raped farm land clay.

we the inspector showed up to inspect the holes "yep there holes" and left. so the 2 weeks of amazing weather is now gone, ate up because Menards didn't have the right spec's on the plans. I am calling it 70%menards fault for not having there **** together and 30% willcounty's for being so damn picky. whatever, they were out yesterday after the inspection and got the four corners done. now we have to wail for a little dry weather to get the rest in then I can stone it and they can fly.

I have always hated buying lumber from menards. they always seemed to have a grade lower then everyone else IMO. anyways the trusses and the treated lumber and headers came from a different location the the local store and were/are good. only the 2x4 and 2x6's are from the local store and they are not bad. so far seems to be a good experance other then the plan's snaffo

Big FYI, if your building is not 13'6" or higher the concrete trucks cant get in. Luckly the one guys said something before they got the tin on the sides. pushed the concrete up and had them hold up a day one the sides. saved $500. The guys are hear to pour, trucks are on the way

put some stone in that I scapped off the driveway to the back door. I have 2 loads of stone coming tomorrow but we might get rain so I wanted to get some down incase it rains tonight. Don't feel like playing in the mud.

backfilled around the aprons today and clipped the corner of the garden. the concrete trucks ran it over and made it very obvious that it needed to be done. Oh and I got to work in the rain again.

Ok so yesterday I went to pick up the service door and the 3 10x10 OH doors from menards. The woman at the contractor desk talked me out of having them sit at the site because she said they get messed up. Well let me tell you about my 4 hr ordeal picking up my doors. they found the door right away, or should I say I found them nice and Safe on the top bunk but the first guy said there was 2 10x10's and a 16x10. WTF probably should have went wider for the back door but a litttle late now. anyways the area clown in charge pulled my order down after knocking over a rack of 8ft counter tops bumping into a generator on a pallet and a kitchen display. needless to say the 3 doors were there but the hardware was not. an hour and a half latter they figure out it was not in a box but scatter across 2 wharehouses. anyways I inspected it and it seemed to be fine. got it home and set up to paint. "I was going to save $1000 over special ordered insulated custom colored doors and went white" Found one corner of a pannel trashed and 2 edges hit. got it straighted out. they are putting the doors up saturday and I do not have the time too play. leason learned. Don't let suff sit around clowns. anyways I got the doors painted and they are drying now. rolled them instead of sprying them but I didn't have the space.

Me too!

Like he says, once it's done you'll forget all about the struggle it took to get it there....

Was all the water inside on the floor from rain being blown in?

Think of how great it will be to have a dry place to park the tractor and cars!

What are you doing about insulation and HVAC?

LOL thanks guys, yeah the dogs a great helper. When he was a pup he removed the turn sig's and half the fork rock guards off my Bike.

I have ADD and a bad back so I didn't go with heat in the floor. That way I can go a week or 3 without it at 65deg's while I am off doing something else or recovering. Thinking about going with that tacky cellulose for the walls and the blown in stuff for the ceiling.
Probably going to use the Tube heaters. My oldman has them in his shop and they kick. good thing is they are signing a petition to bring natural gas down my road. LP is exspensive

didn't beat the first snow:(
had to get my tractor out to pull the lift out of the mud. single wheel drive and soild fixed axels on anything but a flat hard surface is bad. We had rain then sleet then snow yesterday. Now the stuff is dripping off the roof on the guy as he is putting the walls up. The whole time His is cussing at his kid "not there helping" that took a union job for a month and put him behind. I hate to sound happy but I am just glad I am not the only one that **** like this happens too. LOL everything I touch turns into a canOworms.
I am just glad that there is Rum and Cigars at the end of the day. Hmmm ***** bars would fit in there if I was Rhyming but Mama would not appreciate that.
