I got this Kobalt set as a gift.

I am really impressed with the ratchet. It has a lot of teeth, seems solid, and it's smooth. I took it apart last weekend and lubed the ratchet, wow. I think it's my favorite ratchet.

I also like how it pops off sockets and extensions.

I also like the case. Most cases these days are complete ****. I respect a manufacturer who puts a little effort into seeing that the case isn't ****.

What do y'all think of the Kobalt ratchet?

I don't really have a problem with Kobalt, other than it is overpriced. If I have to buy a Taiwan tool in a pinch I'll buy Kobalt first.

I got the smaller 1/4" set of short sockets and ratchet similar to that for $10, and it's a really nice little ratchet. I've had it for 6 months now, used it very regularly and it still feels great.

Last year on Fathers Day weekend, I got the 11-piece metric and sae combo wrench sets for $19 each, and a 1/4 & 3/8 ratchet set ( I think the 63 piece) for $39. That's pretty much a full DIYer set for $80.

I use the 1/4" sockets daily at work, and I tinker around the house with the rest of the set. I like them a lot, but then I'm not standing on them to break stuff free, either.

Next time I'll remember to tell them I'm a veteran, and get that additional 10% off.
