Always wanted to do something like that, but start out with a missile silo, so both the house and garage are subterranean.

Oil stains will give it away. Some how, even with all the room on the hoist, my wife would find some way to crash the Jeep Compass on it.

There was a longer piece on extreme homes a few years back IIRC.

That is what I thought - I recall something about the elevator mechanism is similar to what is used on an aircraft carrier?

Love the whole concept even though I'm claustrophobic...probably would not work out for me.

On a side note.......anyone notice the little white "car" in the corner of the shop? What is that......I've seen one running around my town.

Imagine trying to find a repair man for this thing. "Uhh yea so my secret garage elevator needs repair."

I do think it is awesome but almost wonder if I would tire or waiting on that damn thing all the time.

This was up on the forums and interwebs 4 years ago. The owner made ridiculous money selling a software company. It was for sale then so I don't know what has happened in all this time but apparently he has liquidated his cars.

I wonder what kind of ventilation is used. Usually starting & idling cars indoors requires a fairly serious volume of air "exchanges" per time unit. Not saying that he idles them excessively in there, but some consideration hopefully was given to that subject :)
