some guys are just good making stuff out of odd "ball" things. looks like it works great for light stuff.

i'd probably buy a Versa Vice and have it hold a metal plate with a piece of angle iron welded to the bottom, but this bowling ball idea is interesting.

Saw this video last week. I saw a bowling ball on the side of the road.... I slammed on the breaks and grabbed It. We have 2 old disc at the shop and an old bottle jack just gotta break out the plasma cutter and welder and put it together

I just checked out some more of his videos, the arctic car is pretty cool too...wish I hadn't gotten rid of my old scrap snowmobiles, could build this easy and would have come in handy this year the 2nd snowiest winter in the history of the world.......

Hrmm .. it would be interesting to scribe (long/lat) degree lines on the ball, let you really dial in reproducible settings, and make the whole thing height-adjustable, independent of the locking jack.

Seen this a few times over the years. Amazing idea and execution. What I think is most impressive is how he modified and set up the jack for twin lever actuation. I would have just gone with a cam, but the way he did that with the jack is just brilliant.

Why not just mount a swinging type angle finder on 2 axis?

The jack is kinda dangerous. pump up too much and you may be picking ball out of your balls.
A spring loaded base and a lever to release would be much better.
