My situation does not fit in the "You get what you pay for. I paid just under $1000 cdn for
The wheel dollies , simply do not work. The bearings have so much slack that the dolly wheels tip to the side and contact the caster part. It takes two persons to move my 1940 Ford on a concrete floor. The casters get confused and do not line up in the intended direction of travel. So, I made a comment on the BendPac Ranger video on You Tube. In under an hour I was contacted by someone in their advertising department. He recognized my problem and suggested that I was one of many experiencing this trouble. I took about 6 months before BP was able to send a set of replacement casters. The replacement casters were worse than the original caster. I called the contact person and I got the impression there was a disconnect with this guy. He sent a total replacement set of dollies to my Washington State mailing address and forgot to put my name on the package. So the shipment was sent back. BP added my name and returned the shipment. When it arrived the package was torn up really bad and there was oil leaking out of one of the dollies. The oil leak was because one of the foot operated pumps had fallen open and a check ball was missing.
So, several years have passed and I do not have a working set of wheel dollies. I suppose I have to take responsibility for this, in a way because I called the contact person and told him to stop sending any more junk.
I am beyond frustration with this ****. I did call the local distributor. While they did spend some time with me I was disappointed in their response and I do not have anything for my $1000cdn that works even a little.
One of the pictures shows the axle that was one the roller bearings. The axle is mild steel wire that had been cut with a side-cutters, The burrs were left and the bearings would lock up on the irregularities. The openings in the wheels are larger than the roller bearings, leaving the wheels to wobble.
I gave the second set of dollies to a friend with a Porsche 356SC. I have become aware that I can buy a set of wheel dollies for well under half what I paid at Bend Pack. It appears that the lower priced dollies work really well, under my friends big Block 1962 Chevy.
