Not "technically" a tool, but pretty cool...

I realize this isn't a proper tool per say, but this is the only group I'm in that realy appreciates neat old stuff being saved from destruction...

In my daily perusing of our retail dock I find this amazing, vintage search light that someone turned in.
I quickly snag it up, pay the scale master the whopping 9.76 in scrap value and scamper off with my newest find to do a little research.

Turns out it's a mid thirties Crouse-Hinds industrial and marine search light.
Not super rare, but hard to find in a restorable state.
They're either pristine or smashed to bits.
I was lucky and found the odd ball that's functional but rough, still has its glass lens intact, and just is begging for a little love.

I'll be doing a solid clean up, electrical repair and replacement of some failed hardware, but my plan is to leave the patina intact and let the years of use speak for themselves.

After disassembly, a thorough soap and water cleaning and clay barring of the over spray that seemed to be everywhere.

The reflector got one shot with a good cleaner/polish.

I need to replace the actual bulb socket, as the center contact is broken off.
It looks pretty basic and similar to a lot of large, screw in base shop lamps I've seen, so hopefully I'll be able to find a replacement.
BrandonV is correct, it's 120v

Should be a globe sized bulb IIRC, maybe a G40?

Some of the really big ones use a PS bulb which is what you find in traffic lights and runway lights.
