Not your average teeter totter / seesaw

I am always looking for an excuse to make something and my grandkids provide me with all kinds of opportunities. This project was an absolute hit and is modeled after some much smaller and lighter weight versions that I found pictured on the internet. The framework was powder coated and the slats are 3/4 plywood with several coats of all weather paint.

Very nice job.

I do have a tech comment - I am concerned that if is on dirt and grass, rather than a totally hard surface, that much of the rocking energy will be absorbed in the ground.

Meaning takes alot more work to rock.

I dunno, but that is my only concern.

Beautiful otherwise.

You take all the fun out of a teeter tonttter! Thats nothing like the playgrounds had when i was a kid. No splinters, no smashed bodies and no one getting off while their up and your down. What next a playground with rubber padding and rubberized coating on the equipment. This how we played and we liked it!
Looks good kids should enjoy it.

I'm not sure how the OP put the curve in his but I ordered square tubing rolled to a 7' diameter from the steel supplier to build this.

I'm sure that you can order whatever radius you want and they can roll it on their CNC roller. I ordered 4 pieces and it was ~$30 to roll each one and they were all exactly the same

You are the greatest grandpop ever!

The first thing I thought of when I saw the finished product was that my niece Victoria, who is 8, would love that thing! Second thing I thought was that she would be trying to get that thing to rock up to 90 degrees while she was on it!

If it moves, or can swing, slide, rock, or pivot, Victoria will have it going in ways no one even thought it could go!
