Not your typical Garage Journal Vise

A couple of weeks ago I came across this estate sale that was more of a dig. My wife came out of the shed with this rusty, crusty, pretty much not working pin vise. After a little clean up and lubricating I ended up with a pretty nice 1800's Stehman-Jenks & Stehman Engravers Vise.

That's pretty cool...I bet it could do a lot more work than engraving.

That's a peach. Don't know why, but I really like the look of those old pin vices. I'd love to add one to the collection, one day. Absolutely no use for one mind, but when has that ever been a primary factor for acquiring something.

I know what you mean. A few years ago I would get this tool catalog (I forget the name) that sold new versions of old tools. That's where I first saw this type of vise. That catalog has been a good resource of things to look for at sales.
