My boss and I whipped up a fifth wheel plate stand for one of the flatbeds at work, and I thought you guys might want to check it out. :) They are hauling chemical totes to a muddy location and are using this to keep the landing gear from sinking into the soft ground. I am primarily a diesel mechanic, so when a little welding treat comes along, we all get our hands in. Done with a Lincoln MIG.

The warpage was "adjusted" accordingly.

We built something similar for use on the farm with grain trailers being filled in the field...My one suggestion: reinforce the edges of the bottom a bit more. If you put it down and don't realize that there is a rock under one of the corners (even under a bit of soil), when it starts bearing weight, it will bend the edges up. Don't ask me know I know.
