Never liked Wiltons myself, would never own one. Don't understand the thirst either. To each his own, but never was my cup of tea. The pricing has always mystified me, but vises in general are nuts now.

It's crazy to see this thread goes back to 2010. Thirteen years later and I'm guessing it's only become worse.
About 2 years ago (I think), I was looking for a solid bench vise. I looked at all the new factory options and the second hand market. People were asking crazy prices for what I called rusty boat anchors, or you were paying an arm and a **** for something new... both mostly regardless of brand.
I wanted a bench vise, not a restoration project or more debt.
