won't separate

8G's for an honest ton of anvils.... Who is really going to spend that?

Going scrap rate is what, about $80 a ton right now?

Unless you were going to buy and flip'em yourself which would take a looong time: it just isn't worth it. Plus imagine the hernia you'd inevitably get hauling those things around. ....Even with using the proper gear.

I know an old dude in S. TX who has probably 10X that many in his shop. I know I hauled a bunch in as a kid in high school. and there was a pile in there when I started. I'm betting there was well over a 100 anvils there in the early 80s and he was still buying them.

He's had those listed forever. I saw them posted on Craigslist a couple of years ago. Still no takers at $8K+
Yep, he's asking top dollar retail for a wholesale lot. The market doesn't work that way.

I wish I can buy myself an anvil.. people always want $600 for ONE and the local guy is selling 12" of rusty railroad track for $60.

I just bought a big c clamp and to secure the steel to 2x4s To beat on

That kind of pisses me off a little (I have seen bigger hoards; this isn't so bad). So many good guys who are starting out look so hard for a good, quality anvil and you have folks with a barn stuffed full of them just rusting away and never used. They have every right in the world to hoard them, but it is sort of a sucky thing to do.

Me too, he's got some nice stuff there in pretty nice shape, couple in patterns I'm looking at. Really would rather not have to plunk down on a new Peddinghaus, but around these parts it seems anything wirth having is pretty unobtanium, the rest is beat and broken up pretty bad. Judging by the condition of most of them my guess is he was an anvil collector. Too bad it would cost too much to drive to Iowa and back... but it sure is tempting.

Maybe time to put together a GJ delivery train- each member hands it off to another until it gets close enough for you to pick it up.

I'm driving from PHX to SEA in early April, if anyone could get it here I'd be happy to drop it off on my way through NorCal.

I think anvils should cost more then they do. Around here you maybe see 1, if your lucky 2 a year and some time never. Cost anywhere from 200-600.

Supposedly, there is a guy a couple of hours from Albuquerque who has over 1400 anvils. That would explain why there are rarely any used anvils for sale around here. He bought them all years ago.

Some people bought gold at $35 for investment.
Some people bought farmland at $800 for investment.
Some people bought anvils for investment.
All three turned out pretty well.
What did you buy?

You want an anvil, they are all over the place.
But they aren't free.
Neither is gold or farmland.
