Hi guys. I keep seeing commercials for this company. Anybody have any experience with them? Seriously looking at this, want to make sure I do my due diligence first. Thanks.

As a solar installer, there are many details that need to be discussed with anyone who is mounting PV panels to your home.
NRG uses contractors for most of their installs, so you need meet and speak with those folks. Contract wise, NRG is like most other power companies, most will protect the interests of the company, and not yours. Big questions are who fixes what, when it fails AND what happens to the gear at the end of the contract and who pays that costs.
Best of luck, and for sure speak with your CPA if you expect credits to be coming your way, either short term or long term. Both the fed and many states offer programs....some to the power company, others to the home owner.

NRG is a pretty big company, something like $10 billion/year. I don't have any experience with their home solar division but have worked on a number of design projects with other parts of the company - among other things, they've been involved in landfill cogeneration plants (where you run generators off the methane generated by the landfill) and they have a big facility in Minneapolis that provides steam and chilled water for heating and cooling most of the buildings in downtown.
The point being, they're not some small startup or fly-by-night company.

That means nothing in the PV panel design and installation and contracting for power prices, grid ties, maintenance on those same panels, and the installation on a home owned by a "customer" and the like.
The OP question remains...a very valid one.

be very wary of this. home solar is the latest cut and run section of the electrical biz. you will need to have every detail of the installation mapped out because if you get one of the bad contractors they will slop that thing in and run like hell. if you get one of the good contractors then no problem

My $.02. NOTHING on your roof. EVER. Make sure they own, maintain and service the system at their cost, not yours. In the end, all you should be doing is supplying them a panel location and receiveng power or credits.

They are all the same,if you put no money down you don't really save much. Basically they ask for your electric bill and then give you a price slightly below per kW used. I checked them out and my poco charges me 15 cents per kW. They wanted to charge me 13 cents per kW and anything over a certain amount you get charged your normal rate. So $200 saving for the year wasn't enough for me to put all that stuff on my new roof. If I decided to pay more into and buy the panels you will make your money back in 5 years but you also have to maintain them if there's a problem.

I bought parts and installed my own. Payback was about 5-6 years. ( Here in California my cooling +water pumping bills in summer hit $700+) 36 panels, sunpower 215W, sunnyboy converter.
Maintenance has been... uh.. pretty easy. Clean they twice a year. If I recall right, 20 year warranty on panels, 10 year on inverter.
Ground mount, so no impact on roof.
