The Nepros wooden handled drivers are indeed something special.
So much so that I bought a set, despite not really needing more drivers. Still, I always say you can’t have too many!
In some ways typically Nepros, in that the design of the tool isn’t special, but the way it’s been executed is. The tip grind and chroming of the blades is faultless, as is the way the coloured wooden handle has been stained and varnished, I suspect with several coats, to build up a feeling of “depth”.
These are, almost, too good to use. To be honest, I don’t see them as a mechanics tool. We’ve got too used to more durable handles than these now, and I think they would be prone to damage.
Where I do see them being used, certainly in my case, is in woodwork. They’re really a direct replacement for the old wooden handled Stanley No. 25 drivers (although the spring steel used in those would be a hard act to follow) and that’s the role I envisage for them
I don’t much like the plastic handle Nepros drivers. While undoubtedly good quality, they are far too handle heavy for my tastes, and the outer part of the handle tends to move against the inner, resulting in an unsatisfactory feel.
