Public outing: I read most reviews but still took a chance and placed a first-time order. What's with the immediate TrustGuard email I got? Smells of scam/auto renewal/auto billing/....

I ordered on 21st but never received an email like that. They just charged my account so I think that means my order will ship out soon.

I left it alone. It's obviously linked to NTX as it had the order number, etc. on it. I'm not into all those offers. I suppose this is the hassle one has to deal with for tools cheaper than elsewhere.
I hoped to be one surprised by their "fast" shipping but Plinker is 2 weeks in.
Thanks for the replies.

So did anyone else get an order yet? Old news I know but I'm laughing at their "most orders ship out within 24 hours!" statement.

Nothing yet, called today and the answering machine said they were closed. After looking over my bank statement I realized they haven't charged my account..yet. I'll probably cancel my order if I don't get a clear answer on when my order will ship out. Ordered Feb. 21st

Nothing yet, billed or otherwise. I emailed them twice with no reply so far. Another week & it'll be a month.

Try calling. I called again today and spoke with Tony. He informed me that they're waiting on 3 items that are back ordered and should be there next week except for one (Steelman 79995) that is back ordered for at least another 3 weeks. Will cancel that one and order it from Amazon. Hopefully my order will ship out next week...

I did have close to 20 items in my order and seeing as they ship from different warehouses I can see how it could delay things. I'll keep that in mind for next time. Like others have stated don't order if you need it right away as chances are it could be delayed.

I imagine thats the case (backorders). I had ordered quite a bit with a couple oddball items. But given their shipping claims and everything being in stock I would have thought I'd have the stuff by now.

I dont need anything I ordered now per say, especially since I've been off work with some what messed up ankle.

With all the past issues I wonder if anyone has had problems cancelling an already charged CC order if they waited too long to dispute it? My order was about 6 things almost all in the BOGO section - Gearwrench combo wrenches, socket sets, etc. Nothing odd.
I have a low tolerance to scams so sounds like they just can't keep up with what they advertise as others have implied. I'll buy elsewhere full price for saving the headache. A month is too long too suffer fools and just encourages bad business.

Agreed. Odd thing is the tools that were backordered aren't anything special and are available elsewhere. I had one Gearwrench BOGO item.

Hmmm. Doubtful. Mine was charged the next day and it's been a week and a half. No tracking # or other communication.
I suspect that inconsistency is what gives them a rep.
Also interesting a week for UPS?
Fingers crossed,

They do seem inconsistent. The Rep I talked to told me they don't charge until the order ships. It is coming ground from Philadelphia. The estimate delivery date was revised to Tuesday 3/15.

Okay, I lied. For some reason thought I saw a charge on my CC the day after I ordered. I see no activity now. Weird. In NTX's defense, I could have been mistaken about them charging my card.
Still no communication in two weeks but didn't want to mislead anyone.

You probably saw a pending charge. They fall off if there is no follow-through. Its done to make sure the card is real/active.

This. I saw the initial pending charge too. The real charge was around the 3 week mark. No communication either other than me calling them. Their CS rep was friendly and answered all my questions.

Perhaps it was the pending sharge I saw. I may call them if it goes 3 weeks.
Incidentally, I ordered some Ernst stuff from Summit this past Thursday and it's already been shipped.

Cisco, so did your order arrive?
Dave

Oh yeah, forgot to update. It arrived 3/15. Missing 6 items that were marked "back ordered" on shipping slip. I checked my account and they only charged me $307 not $385 so I'm assuming they only charged me for what shipped. I called yesterday to get an update on when the rest will ship out or cancel but was left on hold then to voicemail. I'll try again today.

Nice! My order was on 2/29 so maybe it's not far behind. No comm with me but, then again, I haven't contacted them.
Thanks for the update.

You're welcome. Good luck with your order. I'm pretty happy with the tools that came in. The Gearwrench BOGO deal is awesome.

Plinker,
How about you? Yours was at almost a month. So was mine so I finally broke down and called. I was hoping to see if they could complete an order without a reminder or complaint. Supposedly, a couple items were being shipped to him "tomorrow" to arrive next week. Ironic timing, my call. He says he'll send the "on-the-shelf" Gearwrench items out, the majority of my order, today. Wouldn't you think they would already do that rather than remain silent for 3 1/2 weeks?
I think they just sell everything short and nothing is really stocked. Middle man skimmers maybe?

Nothing yet, I may just end up calling them. A month and a half is a bit obnoxious without any call/email from them, let alone a reply to what I sent. I have ordered form jbtoolsales and tooltopia and they would ship what they had and the rest as it comes in. Never a problem that could not be resolved fast.

I have my doubts I'll be ordering from NTX in the future, unless I wont need the item for a year or so [sarcasm off]. I thought the whole point of drop shipping was to get the item out in a reasonable amount of time while minimizing the warehouse size you'd otherwise need.

Ditto, not worth the drama. I did get a UPS shipping email last night stating from "CTS". The phone answer recording was also Coastal so no surprise there. But, hmmm, shipped the same day after I called? I was told the remainder would ship next week. It looks like a call is what it takes. Sounds like they will let you go indefinitely unless you complain. Not sure how that can profit them but...

Well I just called them and I'm not impressed. Apparently I had ordered from them before under one of their other names or something a long time ago, as He looked up the order under my name. They had sent an email a month ago (I think thats what he said) about some Armstrong & Gearwrench stuff that was on back order. (I only ordered Gearwrench stuff)

They had sent the email to the old address, didnt hear back and canceled the order. No calls or email using the information provided at the time of order. :wtf:

I have no idea why they didnt use the email address I placed the order with or reply to the three emails I sent with all needed information. I told them to make sure the order was canceled. They didnt seem (to me) all that interested in weather or not I wanted to place the order again and they seemed kind of indifferent about the whole thing. I'm kind of at a loss for the stupidity of the whole thing.

I think I will stick to more reliable sources.

Good call. Why would you not use the contact info of an order? That is unless you were willing to use that order info to search for old info to send updates to. Makes no sense and would be too much work for such types. Smells of intent to me.
Part of my order came in today after a full month. All basic Gearwrench stuff so not rare.
Sorry for your hassle. It appears even a successful receipt is still a hassle.

Still nothing about the missing tools from my order. Astro order was "coming to them" three weeks ago. No comm since.

4 1/2 months later and still no word of communication. They didn't charge my card for the missing tools but did say they would send them. Never did.
Honestly, if someone doesn't have the money to gamble, they probably shouldn't risk what they can afford on this company.
Verdict? They don't appear to fill orders unless one harangues them constantly. Those who don't seem to never receive what they ordered. Even then, seldom a complete order.
My basic order alone has been incomplete for over 1/3 year and I have never received word one after my initial automated confirmation. I didn't "need" the tools and could afford the risk but I have to admit that I have never in 50 years simply been ignored by a company I gave $300 to.
Experiment complete!
