Nupla Handle-less Dead Blow Quickie Review

10 oz dead blow, great for tool kits, compact and easy to store.

In the few years I've owned it, I only have one complaint - the sticker that says "Handi-Hammer" is pealing off. It should have been carved into the plastic like the other hammer details.

I've used those for years in tool & die, great for tight spots also.

Sometimes I wish it were slightly fatter. I suppose the 14oz one might be a little larger. If I really needed a much heavier impact, I could always saw off the handle of a conventional dead blow mallet.

I purchased the 14 oz. Nupla Handi-Hammer about a year ago at a local Grainger store for about $15. Unfortunately, Grainger.com is showing the hammer for about $22:

Sears, but only online. Haven't seen them at any other major source.

Stopped by my local Ace Hardware, they didn't have any, but used to carry Nupla, and they found one at another local Ace, $12 for 10oz. I hope to check it out tomorrow, see if the smaller one suits me or keep shopping for a 14oz.

I found an ACE 40% off any one item up to $40 coupon, so I picked up the Nupla 10oz for just under $8 with tax. Last one on the shelf, and only other Nupla item was a single medium sized deadblow for $35.

I "think" I would have preferred the 14oz, but haven't whacked anything with it yet, does seem like it will be handy.
