having recently purchased a nutdriver set myself, I'm wondering about the 7/32" and 9/32" sizes, which are not part of the set.

11/32 is the standard nut size for a #8 machine screw.

so that's why Klein/Vaco included an 11/32" nut driver in their popular 7-piece set?

what about the 7/32" and 9/32" ? they are not included in that same set, which makes me wonder if they're really oddball?
(I can't remember when the last time was I pulled a 7/32" or 9/32" socket out of my 1/4" drive box.)

like these:

and HERE: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klein-Tools-...8AAOSwKrhVefbI

Allen's set HERE: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Allen-66623G...AAAOxyOlhS1dGG

is there any reason I'd want to chase down those other two sizes?

Interchangeability:

7/32" and 5.5mm (0.2188" - 0.2165" = 0.0022") Difference due to rounding.

9/32" and 7mm (0.2813" - 0.2756" = 0.0057")

So do you have 5.5 and 7 mm?

I have a 7mm 6-point 1/4" drive socket but do not own anything in 5.5mm. that was the one size I skipped when I bought the sockets - it just didn't make sense at the time.
the nut drivers are all SAE - I wasn't planning on getting those in metric sizes.
(I do more work on SAE stuff than metric.)

maybe I should add: I already have 7/32" and 9/32" 1/4" drive sockets (shallow and deep) so it's not a big deal, I suppose... .clipping one onto a spinner handle isn't too difficult.

maybe I'm just over-thinking this.

I'm beginning to think maybe it was a rhetorical question. As I said above, I cannot remember when (if ever) I pulled the 7/32" or 9/32" socket out of the box to use.
I had to use a 7mm open-end to snug up a screw on a Chinese-made work light a few weeks ago. I think that's the first time I used that wrench since I bought it in 1971.

Okay.. I'm not going to worry about it... set of 7 is good enough.

I'll get back to acquiring more socket sets and pliers.

hey 4 cycle, you can buy the 7/32 and 9/32 sizes if you really want but they aren't standard in most sets. Harry Epstein carries them in WILDE brand, US made. I don't have any of those, but they look about as good as Kleins, which I do have (and an old VACO set too). - Paul
