I got this at the flea market for 5 dollars. All it got was a quick clean, polish, and lube. I have been doing without a vise for way too long, so this will help til I get my old Craftsman refurbished. I am also putting the finishing touches on my woodworker's bench. There will be pictures soon.

Just realized 700 is the same number Stanley used for older cast iron vises of a little bit different design. Posted pics of one I recently acquired here http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=325868 . Funny part is I have one like yours stashed away somewhere, but didn't make the connection till I saw yours. Mine isn't as nice a shape as yours though, probably why it was a freebie at a yard sale, would have rather paid your $5. and got one in better shape. Good deal.

454: I'll check yours out. I think these are very handy vises, especially if you can find them cheap. Mine took a little work, but cleaned up well.

Old thread, but my sister bought one of these for me at an estate sale a couple of months ago for $10. I screwed it to my bench, and have just been using the heck out of it. I have a large 6" mechanics vise and a woodworking vise, but this little 700 is just the ticket.20230505_165426 (1).jpg20230505_165437.jpg20230505_195125 (1).jpg
