H,

Did a quick search on here and didn't find much. I had bout the threaded insert tool from HF and have used it a couple of times. I want use them on an aluminum ramp (for pickup). I need more than the 12 or so provided in the kit.

So my question is, can I use steel or stainless inserts with this gun? I assume that steel or stainless may need more force than a gun that came with aluminum.

I can't seem to find aluminum replacements. ...any thoughts on where to find those?

Thanks,

Mark

Yes, HF, or ebay, the rivet style guns dont have the strength for stainless(doesnt compress enough and will spin when u install bolt, which is a real *****)), the tool that looks like a bolt cutter (as in operating it) is the ticket for ss

Dont ask me how i know!

Ok, kinda what I thought... Need the "real" tool to do the steel and stainless inserts. I looked on McMaster and didn't find aluminum. I'll look again.

As for the corrosion... I was trying to stick to aluminum as the moving ramp is aluminum. ...and it could see some water. I would figure that I could also use stainless in this example too. ...steel was a no. (however the amount of water exposure would be minimum.
