Hello to all-

I'm new to the site. I came here chasing information on the Will-Burt Versa-Vise, one of my favorite tools. I signed up in order to view related pictures but a brief tour convinced me there is much to be learned here, so as time permits I'll be checking it out more thoroughly.

I raced motorcycles and worked as a bike mechanic in my youth before going back to college and taking a different career path. But I've always loved to tinker and I like to restore/rebuild anything with a small engine and old motorcycles. I'm also a hobby gunsmith.

I'm retired now so I have more time to devote to my hobbies, hunting, fishing, shooting and spending time in my garage.

I'm looking forward to meeting the crew.

Great to meet another guy here from "da Region".

I'm in Lake Co too, but happy to be south of Rt 30, even south of SR 231. Definitely the "South End".I grew up here, lived in Bloomington for about 10 years, Hammond for about ten years, a couple years in Hobart, now glad to be back in the small town where I grew up.

I didn't know we were the "armpit of the nation" although I've referred to da Region as the "armpit of the state". I guess geographically the national reference makes more sense although I think Detroit has a good claim on that title.

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out.

Welcome. I'm just over the border. I work in Griffith, so, I'm kind of like a "red headed step child".

When I lived in Hammond I was only a couple of blocks from the state line so I didn't have to worry about buying beer on Sunday. Spent many Saturday nights into Sunday mornings listening to jazz at a joint called The Grapevine in Cal City and hungover Sunday afternoons at the Emergency Room, a bar across from the hospital. They had a little Mexican carry out in the back (they would serve you at the bar) called Authentic Tacos, best menudo and chicken tacos in the Region. And that's saying something, considering the number of good Mexican restaurants around, especially in East Chicago.

We get a lot of immigrants from Illinois here in South Lake County. Maybe some day you'll see the light and cross over from The Dark Side!

I actually also own a home in Lowell, (although I don't live in it.) so I'm kind of a Hoosier. I know the places of which you speak.

Welcome from Indianapolis.

Here’s a couple of pictures of my set-up at
work. I bought the foreign copy of a
Versa Vise since most American classics seem
to be going for 100.00 and up. Think I got
this one for around 65.00.

don’t know why my pics end up sideways
when I post from my phone.

Nice to "meet" you!

Try turning the phone 90 degrees and take the picture?

Or maybe save the picture, open it in an editor, rotate the image 90 degrees and save the rotated copy?

I guess turning my phone 90 degrees might
work when I’m on “this” site. It doesn’t
always do that.

Former Region Rat here. I still get up there quite a bit as my parents still live there, and my brother is in Chicago.

Now currently in Indy.

Hi-

Always good to meet another Region Rat. I kept an apartment in Indy for a while. I like Indianapolis, as cities go it's not bad. I had a job there but kept my place up here because I was up here regularly to take care of my mom.

Advice on the wallet is noted. I'm afraid to go to the For Sale board, as in afraid I'll see a bunch of stuff I want to buy.
