So I'm going to use unfinished white oak for my work/laundry room counters (I'll sand and finish in place). These will be on kitchen cabinets that I've already put down 2 layers of OSB. My plan was to use 3/4 x 5" planks, however I'm finding these are not readily available, even though the local stores list them on their sites. I called 3 places today and availability ranged from "coupla months" to "not really sure". One place about 25+ miles away may have some in stock, but I'll have to call back tomorrow and they will go look. Not sure I really want to do a 50 mile drive for 40 s.f. of floor boards...
Now I'm thinking about going narrower to something like 2 1/4" just because it's more readily available.
Does anyone have any comments on pro/con of using a narrower width board? Does it really matter?
