I bought a small plug in OBD2 reader that connects via bluetooth to my iphone. I need an app for my phone.

I don't need something fancy. I have a good code reader at my home shop. I bought this to take with me on trips to do a quick scan and to clear codes. Don't need all kinds of fancy capabilities.

What do you recommend?

"Car Scanner Pro" has been the most full featured, constantly updated, and flawless OBD app that Ive ever used. I used Torque Pro for years and found it was a bit limited. Car Scanner Pro has never let me down.

Any costs associated with it? I don’t need anything fancy.

What kind of vehicle? For GM products there is t much other than what’s been mentioned. For Fords, Mazdas, Isuzu, etc there is Forscan.

In either case if all you are wanting is a code reader on your phone then go with what’s been mentioned.

Main use will be for a Jeep TJ but may also use it for others. Again, I have a nice scanner in the shop. Just looking for an app that can scan and read and then erase codes when away from home. Nothing fancy needed. Cheap or free app would work fine for me. Looking on the iPhone App Store there are lots of options….just wondering what others have used that would cheaply meet my needs.

Thanks

I have Dash Command for my IPhone. Maybe use it once a year.

it’s Ok, for what it does. Mostly my issue is with the iPhone integration. It does not use Bluetooth. It uses a WiFi connection. To make connections, you have to go into settings and choose the dongle, then connect with WiFi.

Paid version of Torque is great
Great!

Now I have an I phone and dont want to use if for car work, let alone having to get an appt to work!

Can I use my old Version phone, it doesn't connect to the internet, but would I be able to blue tooth between the application and the Android phone ??

I also second Torque for use with the basic ELM32 clones. A word of caution... Those devices are hit or miss depending on the vehicle make and model (and the position of the moon and the stars, it seems).

You can download the apk file for Torque with a computer and then transfer it to your phone if your phone doesnt have internet access.

Once installed, Torque does Not require Internet access

Try alphaobd for the Jeep. It can communicate with the modules. Used it on a wheel speed sensor.

Interesting. I'm in the market as well for a Mazda scanner. Will this clear codes, steering angle sensor code or bleed ABS or is it not that advanced and I'll need a more powerful scanner-type unit for that?
