So I just bought an obd2 scanner off the Matco truck today and I was wondering if there were any books out there that break down obd2 codes and have some tips and solutions or common fixes?

There are many commonalities but small variations can make a big difference between makes/models so there's no one big knows-everything reference book.

Which one did you buy? Even the least expensive one I sell has code description.

As far as a book for tips, you'll be better off using google for stuff like that. Things change so fast, it would be out of date info by the time it was printed.

What do you work on, what would you like to do and what is your budget?

Friends and neighbors, so run of the mill toyota, nissan, jeep, kia, chevy, gmc off the top of my head.

I need live data viewing and code reading. And should probably get a droid friendly bluetooth dongle first, but what's out there?

I just google the code and make/model of the car. There is bound to be a thread on some forum somewhere discussing the code and its fix.

The Japanese and Europeans, you won't find any diagnostics on the trouble codes. They don't let out to the public, dealer only.Ford, getting that way now.Ford does not let out any information on their computer systems anymore, goes to the dealer only.
